I know if i was to buy a new DVD recorder it would be a Pioneer or Panasonic with Dual layer recording
But thats just me. Also looking around £200+

If you didn't mind a non DL-recorder than you can get them for £130 odd

Do you ever use dual-layer discs anyway? - I don't think I've ever even seen one?.

I currently don't but I would use them for recording the TV series I do record. For example instead of getting 3 episodes on a 4.7gb disc at 720x576 I could get approx 6 episodes. They are coming down in Price DL disc just under £1 now.

I just think its an option worth having for a little bit extra.

We have a Toshiba one, similar model to yours, and the ruddy thing is soooo loud we have to turn the tv up a fair amount just to hear over it! Is this typical of most hard disk recorders or am I just unlucky? I realise that they are similar to computers so there is bound to be some fan noise etc but it drives us mad .

If anyone could recommend a nice QUIET hdd/dvd recorder that would be great.

Ps OP sorry to hijack your thread
