Today, 9th March, is 8 years since the end of Series 1 of Holby City. In that final episode, we saw Nick Jordan save Jasmine's life after she was stabbed. In that episode we also had some comedy moments when Ray Sykes and Derek 'Sunny' Sunderland were having a laugh at Ralf Formby (Ken Farrington - Emmerdale's Tom King) after he was brought in after collapsing with a heart attack in a lap dancing club - where nurse Julie was working!

Also, 7 years ago today, 9th March 2000, saw the close of Series 2, where Mike Barrat damaged his leg after rolling down a hill when his foot was caught in a poacher's trap. That episode also saw Victoria Merrick assist Meyer with her first heart transplant.

I know some people say the show is not as good without Meyer and Jordan, but I think it's just as good today. It's a very different show but I still look forward to it every week. I do miss some of the old characters though. Does anyone have any fond memories of the early series? And do you have any opinions or comments about the original characters or stories?

I like holby city now as it is, the storylines are better and they've put more comedy into the characters so now holby makes you laugh more!

Ah the good old days! I remember the first ever episode I saw- Jordan was trying to help some woman who went into labour on a plane and Meyer was sat up in Business class all full of himself haha

That was Series 2 Episode 1 - "Search for the Hero" very good episode that was

I've watched Holby from the start and I must say it is a very different show nowadays, but it's good. I loved the original nursing crew - Jasmine, Julie, and Ray - they were great characters. I remember watching the episode when Jasmine was stabbed and there was a massive cliff hanger whether she would live or not, I think that's the only thing Holby is missing these days, there's no suspense. Apart from that it's great to watch it every week.

By the way, there's a better mix of wards today. There was no AAU or Keller back in Series 1, it was just Darwin so it was all heart-related stuff.
