Last night's episode was awful, but apart from the Wicks stuff and Dawn/Rob/May, I have been enjoying it.

They've got some good stories coming up in the next few months with the fallout of Stax, Sean/Jean/Stacey, Stella and Ben, Dot and Jim finding a refugee baby, and Honey being pregnant again.

Last night's episode could have been a lot better if it starred characters we actually care about and if the acting was better.

It would be a shame to write the soap off after a dodgy few months.

Coronation Street hasn't exactly been brilliant either lately, but I don't see people writing that off.

Don't tell me people find Tracey and David tasteful, or thought Frankie and Jamie's affair was good.

Agree with everything you've made there!

The characters saving EastEnders at the moment are:

Stella
Ben
Phil
Pat
Carly
May
Honey
Peggy
Billy
Stacey
Max
Tanya
Darren
Libby
Shirley

(The whole cast then)

I'm not a religious watcher of EE (more Corrie) but whenever I switch on, it seems to be the same thing happening as I saw last time. I always think "I've seen this already." It's so repetative, particually the Rob/Dawn/May thing.

Im one of the biggest EE fans and I usually dont like people slating it, but last night was bloody awful. In all the years I have watched EE I have never walked away from an ep, but I have done that twice in the past 2 week.

I didnt watch EE last night so I can't comment ( Altho I usually find it to be dire ) but Phil Daniels is NOT A TERRIBLE ACTOR - he is let down IMO by awful scripts and storylines. If you saw him in The Long Firm a couple of years ago you could never accuse him of being a bad actor - he was brilliant

Being of a certain age, Phil Daniels is a bit of an icon to those of us who saw Quadrophenia as schoolkids

What is this film people are always talking about with Phil Daniels in?

Is it good? Is he a good actor in it?

I didn't catch who wrote last night's episode but it looked like a completely separate script that had just been bought in and adapted - remember Billy ranting on the tube a few months ago, that seemed to be a ''play within a play'' and bore no relation to what else was going on in EE at the time. As there is no EE next Friday because of Red Nose Day I suspect they combined what was originally last night's episode and next Monday's as the ''Kevin sequence'' didn't last more than 30 minutes and intercut rather awkwardly with what else was going on while usually they are quite subtle with the editing.

I used to watch EE religiously but now I've stopped watching it all together cuz in the past few months I've noticed how morbid it is, nothing funny EVER happens . since I realised that I've decided I may as well watch custard go cold cuz it might be a more interesting

Quadrophenia is a fantastic film. Try and get it on DVD if you can.

It also stars a very young Lesley Ash and Sting and the soundtrack is by The Who.

I'd seen a preview of it on breakfast the day before so I knew what to expect. I then spent about the first 15 minutes of the show being so bugged by that Jed character cos I knew i recognised him but couldn't think where from. In the end it was bugging me so much i ended up having to just log on and try and find out online who he was.
Trouble was in doing that I missed what might have been the best bit of the storyline. What happened to him. I think he got on the bus but then the next thing I saw was a burnt out bus so did it get into some sort of crash.

One thing i remember from last night as well is the bit at the begining with Denise folding up Kevins shirts all nice and neatly looking like they've been nicely ironed and pressed, i was thinking if anything they were going to be going to a charity shop if not put back in his drawers but then when she started bagging them up to put out for the bin men i thought blimey you really dont have much going on in your life if you're ironing your rubbish..

That hour episode would easily have fitted into half hour.
