ive been thinking the same thing actually. It might be interesting to see some new credits. But hasnt the map sequence sort of been in the credits from the start. It mite be strange seeing something else. Still, it would be interesting. Maybe a sweep of Albert Square, like corrie does with the cobbels and Emmerdale does with the village

Why? The BBC just cut the credits in half anyway to advertise the next show!

I think they have eben the same from the start apart from it was blue and no its green.
Ithink it might be good for a little change keep the tune tho
the ending of eastenders seems much more dramtic then all the other soaps with the drums

True. EastEnders without the drums, it would be a whole different program . Thats right i think i remember watching an old episode on one of UKTV Gold's Eastenders christmas marathons or sumthing and it was quite an old one, (Lou Beale was still alive so..) and the titles were blue.

yea i know it did get a bit annoying.i have noticed that they extend the tune a lot if say there are loads of people that was in that episode or it was written by more then one person they play the sunday bit
i didn't like it when they changed it back in 1993 its sounded a bit like what hollyoaks does now

You can't change the titles. The theme tune and titles are as much a part of EastEnders as The Queen Vic.

Or at the end of every year, the last Sunday omnibus has extended credits featuring everybody who was in the show that year.

It's iconic. Can't change it after 22 years! It's instantly recognisable!

i think the bbc should try it like they did when they changed the tune and if people don't like it put the old one back

No. Like was said, it's iconic. The theme tune is one of the most recognisable theme tunes in British television history. Why fix it when it ain't broke?

I agree with Shamelessness's sentiments. The titles and music should never change now.

Both are instantly recognisable, and a big part of british television.

The theme tunes haven't been changed dramatically and the opening titles were never as 'recognisable' as EE's. Just shots of the street.

Well firstly the Emmerdale filming location has shifted, so they had to change the titles there.

EastEnders has always been the map, it's NEVER been anything else, so I can't see them changing it.

Corrie is just images of the Street.

The music on all three have been tweaked, but none have had a big change (like Hollyoaks has just done )

The titles have been changed, you're right, but it's not the same. If EastEnders had shots of the Square then I'd agree they need updating every now and again, but they don't.

The EastEnders titles are simple and don't require any updating at all (except for big things like the dome to be added on to the map)
