Hi, hope someone can help as i'm a complete novice with electronics..

Anyways, my sister got home cinema audio system of her friend.. it has the main amplifier(??), and then 4 little speakers which you connect to this..

The only problem is there was no wires with it except for the mains plug..

Can someone tell me what type of wires i need to get this set up on my tv.. and where do i get them?? Thanks

Well, you'll need speaker cables, which can be bought at any store that specializes in products related to that area of equipment.

These will be connected to the speakers and then to the amp. Your Tv will also have to have audio out connections (red-white usually, or occasionally red-black) to feed the sound. You will need an RCA Phono lead for this.

If you are feeding your DVD player through them also, it would connect to the amp via an optical lead or coax, whichever you prefer, and that is provided the DVD player has an optical and coax connection and that same at amp end, although 99.9% of DVD players/Amps have both, and 100% have optical, so optical is probably your safest best if wanting to connect the DVD player.

You need to first see if your TV/DVD player/Amp has these connections.

Without knowing the speaker make and model, it's hard to determine what type of speaker cable you require.

If you are a novice, I would get someone in that knows a bit to set things up for you, a friend or whatever, just incase you go buying the wrong stuff.

So i checked the make of the amp, and it just says DIGITAL AUDIO, so this must be the make..

I already have the audio(red-white) wires as these came with my crappy cheap DVD Recorder..

So i suppose all i need to get now is the speaker wires right??

Though the amp only has one input connection on it, the other sockets are just for the speakers.. Does this mean anything, no???

Cheers for the tips Xenon

Are the speaker terminals on the amp screw outs or do you just lift them up to put the speaker cable in?
