queen mother joins the east enders
VETERAN actress Sylvia Syms will swap the Queen Mum for the Queen Vic — after landing a role in EastEnders.
The 73-year-old, who portrayed the Queen Mother in Oscar-winning film The Queen alongside Helen Mirren, plays a mystery character who comes in to help out Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor). An insider said: “Sylvia plays a woman called Olive who is not related to any of the other characters. “But she and Peggy have a connection which is part of a much bigger storyline.” Sylvia will first appear in April and the BBC1 soap’s bosses are lining her up for several special episodes this year. The London-born actress has been in a host of TV programmes including Judge John Deed and Family Affairs. Her film career dates from the 1950s and includes a part in comedy Shirley Valentine http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2...110620,00.html sounds fantastic emma xx |
