In which case she should have left him.

Again, she should have left him at the first sign of danger to her daughter.

Again, she should have left him but she didn't because she wanted to turn him into something he wasn't. I agree Charlie was a sod but then he never pretened to be otherwise.

I feel sad for you that you think that. Yes, he was a sod, he was wicked to women and probably always would be but in Tracy's particular case she had other options, however she enjoyed the lifestyle he gave her so rather than give that up she decided to try and change him but when it became clear she wasn't going to be able to do that and she suffered one humiliation too many she then planned to kill him. She is as disturbed, if not more so, than Charlie.

But he manipulated the weaker Shelly to an astonishing degree - something he never did with Tracy and which Tracy didn't believe in anyway (she was always scathing about Shelly). Tracy is a spoilt, selfish and nasty piece of work. She planned Charlie's death deliberately after suffering one little bit on the side of Charlie's too many - that he perhaps got his comeuppance for what he did to Shelly is arguable but certainly dramatically pleasing BUT that has nothing to do with why Tracy did what she did.
She could have walked after the first affair or the first obvious signs that he would leave Amy etc but she didn't - she has no excuse for what she did.
