I've seen the episodes where she tells Mike she had an abortion. She didn't want a child that young and Mike had been going on about her staying at home in a house he wanted to buy in the middle of nowhere and she wanted a career before kids. So we saw what we saw. She told Deirdre she'd had an abortion. And Ken. When she told Mike he called her a murderer. The point to remember, of course, as they wrote it then, was that she still loved Mike, she didn't want the marriage to end, she didn't want to leave him, she just couldn't face a baby so young. But he kicked her out, cos that was how they were writing her out. So if she'd stayed, there'd have been no baby cos the writers aborted it! I've said that before but people always just say "we never actually saw her have the abortion"! well we never actually see anyone getting pregnant but it still happens! Yes, they just changed history, like they did with with Jack and Vera's eldest grandson Paul. He was adopted when he was a baby - we were told that in 1991 when Vera went looking for him and Andrea - but they brought in the needing a kidney storyline for him about 10 years later when he turned up with his mum Andrea, so he was miraculously unadopted! They must assume no one remembers or has ever seen episodes from years ago.

Happens like that sometimes, kids who've grown up without a father turn to one that they end up marrying. As for Ken and Deirdre, it's funny to think that if Ray hadn't left, they'd never have got together. I remember when Neville Buswell left it was said he talked to the bosses for some time begging them not to get rid of Deirdre as well - cos I think they intended to - so she stayed. Aronund that time they were also considering whether Ken had a future in the street (imagine that! i remember reading about it years ago) because - as they always say - they thought he'd done as much as he evere could, he'd been there nearly 20 years. Then Deirdre became free so they created the odd couple. They've always been the odd couple to me. Ray was 10 years older than deirdre but it never showed for some reason cos Ray was not an old fogey like Ken was. She was 23 when Ray left, Ken was an old 40. They looked like father and daughter sometimes! They got together when she was 24, he was 41. It's a bit like a modern day Maria getting together with someone like Roy! So it could be said Bill Roache has Neville Buswell to thank for still being in Corrie! They might have got rid of him in 1979 othewise and we'd probably never have seen Peter or Susan again!

However, I can remember Ken making a comment a few years ago about Valerie having died in " a fire " ?? I was astounded that either the scriptwriters or Bill Roach would make such a mistake ? I've read so often about the Corrie archivists and how meticulous they are - it's really annoying when this happens - luckily not too often. |

Jenny Bradley's famous 18th birthday, when Alan tried to kill Rita, was in March 1989. Her 19th and 20th birthdays were in February! Des bought a boat. The cost of it varied from £250 to £500 depending on the episode! Terry's and Curly's and Des's ages have changed. I remember Terry was said by Vera to be 27 in a particular year and the next year he was 29, stuff like that. Little details, but what they presumably hired someone to keep check of! |

While Valerie was getting ready for their going-away party in the Rovers, she plugged a hair dryer into a faulty electrical outlet and electrocuted herself. As she fell, she knocked an electric heater into a packing crate and started a fire. By the time rescue came, it was too late for Valerie Barlow. Although I always think of her as being electrocuted, that may not have been fatal, she could have died in the fire... |

how can anyone support tracy, after what she did, i know it's a soap, but if that happened in real life that would be quite bad if a woman like tracy got any sympathy
