I've read threads about how the contestants can't sing and should be kicked out.

This isn't the proper fame academy so it doesn't matter if they sing well or not. Vote for who you enjoy watching/listening to so that you give to charity.

No one is forcing you to vote for anyone else. If other people want to vote for their favourites they have that right just as you have.

I'm sick of reading threads slating these people who are giving up their time for free to go through the stress of singing every night, having sometimes less than 4 hours sleep, and then being woken to do a workout with Kevin, singing lessons, live stage etc and then public humiliation for some of them from the judges.

They know that they aren't getting a contract afterwards. It's human nature to want to do your best and strive to be the best that you can be.

I'm not slating his singing ability though. I am slating his attitude, his character etc... it has nothing to do with what he's doing for charity. I do admire that he is doing his bit for comic relief and I commend him on that.

What I am talking about here is people saying that someone doesn't deserve to be there because they can't sing.

Totally different actually.

Did I say that I hated Colin? No I didn't. I don't use that word so loosely. So don't tell me that I starteda hate thread

I think you need to remind the contestants that its for charity

We had two contestants virtually begging for votes to stay in tonight so we are fooling ourselves to say it is just about charity. As long as comments are about singing/performance that shouldn't be a problem.

The problem with the charity angle is that the show only works for charity if the show is entertaining. To be entertaining it either needs comedy or good singing. Last series had 4 great singers at least and good comedians and managed to keep the best singers to the end with the comics. The student's rightly carried Reggie to the end because he was fun and always put his best efort in.. The student's also frankly were nicer people who formed stronger relationships. They had a realstic view of who was good and who was not. They understood that the comedians were essential to the show. When the choice of who went became close they tried to avoid it by tying their votes - but that is arguably better than coming up with nonsensical reasons.

This lot have too many people determined to win. Their friendships are far shallower - as shown by their voting. The house is full of assertive achievers - some over achievers. Several have an inflated idea of their capability. There seems no realistic idea in the house of who is really good - even the dire ones think that they have a right to be there for being bad and can't be that bad because the public are voting for them. Some even want to win by not singing as the singers and comedians leave around them. Several others are at the other exteme and seem to have gone in to become more confident, As a group. they react less well to criticism and listen less well to advice.

The show has ended up with a strange selection of people. The two comedians who could sing well have gone leaving the unfunny comedian who can't. Instead of one anti-judge candidate in Reggie we have three of them who sing worse than Reggie limping to the end. At the top end the nearest thing we have to great singers are Tricia and Shaun but neither is an Edith or a Will or a Kim or in terms of the last CFA a Debra .

Its not all their fault. They seem to have cast a narrower range of abilties with fewer good singers and fewer people who are that much worse than the middlling singers. The students don't have a clear idea of who really is good because the coaches are telling them they all are and the public voting is random. The public have blown it further by putting the best acts on the night into the bottom 3 seemingly because the voters couldn't tune in on time and keep on missing the first three performances,

Basically if they give us a singing show where most people can't sing . in a comedy context with no comedians left in the show and throw in a few super egos, people will find fault. Without Tara or richard Park trying to get votes by being rude I suspect it would be doing even less well in the ratings.

There is little chance of forgetting that it's for charity. A programme in which the quality of the acts is, in general, so dire would not be tolerated otherwise.

Does anyone really believe that these 'celebrities' are doing this purely out of the goodness of their hearts, with no thought to how it could benefit their careers, though?

I assume you didn't mean Tara, because she did actually mention the charity.

Someone should remind Carrie that this is for charity. She has just told Tricia that if she doesn't like the clothes she has been given to wear she should tell 'wardrobe' that they should go out and buy her new ones. 'Your the celebrity here remember'.

Lol..foxyred I'm just as guilty as anyone else by starting negative threads but heck it's RTV first IMO and if the contestants (some of them) take themselves so seriously, then they deserve to be knocked down.

But yes, you are right in essence about what it is all about. I just can't help believing that some of them are doing it not just for charity but a recording contract for themselves at the end of it.

Actually the way the voting is taking it Hannah Waterman already looks a far better singer than all but two of them and she would probably beat them on either the soap or personality vote.

I didn't watch much of that this year (maybe there's a reason for that?) and can hardly remember who was in it. I seem to recall that HW was not particularly good (though still better than most of this lot of CFA contestants), but at least she was paired with someone who, though not my cup of tea, can actually sing.

I think the reverse should apply. As it's all for charity, they should only have non-singers in the show.

I totally agree. They should all be absolutely rubbish and then we can vote on who improves the most or who makes us laugh the most in their efforts

And probably a number of people would not watch due to the apparent lack of any singing talent.

Tara's comment a couple of nights ago that we should remember the 'country' we are doing this for, really put me off her as it clearly showed her not actually knowing what Comic Relief does at all. I think she thinks it's the same as Live Aid.
