May be just me, but does Tara seem to be exempt from any criticism??
She keeps turning in very average vocal performances (at best), but that seems to pass the judges by, who thinks she's great because she's jumping around or wearing thigh length boots.
Criticise Fred, Angellica and Ray all you like, but at least they are trying to sing. Tara tries singing for a couple of bars, and then resorts to talking her way through the rest of the song!
And then gets praise for it...perhaps Ray should try doing a Lee Marvin Wandering Star impression instead of genuinely attempting to sing - might be better received by the judges!

I don't understand either, her performance tonight as not great, and there were several wobbly bits in there, but the judges were practically fawning over her.

I'm not missing it .... I'm getting it

Turn left and its through the doors marked "fun and honest"

Tara I think, is one of the few doing this show because of 2 reasons .... 1) for charity and 2) she is a reality show fan

She is doing it for the right reasons, I feel - moreso than most (if not all) of the others ...

She wasn't jumping around of wearing thigh-length boots tonight, and some aspects of her performance were criticised.

Wrong again. If anything, she sings more towards the end. If you want someone who doesn't sing, start with Ray.

They all try to have fun - and all of them are being honest and giving it their all, just that in Tara's case that seems to exempt her from any further criticism.

Tara's like broken biscuits - a bit of a mess but still tasty nonetheless.

Get this sweaty washed- up hag off my TV

she has blown far too many chances, and is absolutely completely 100% talentless.

She is a middle aged woman acting like a child.

This thread is all about in-built prejudices - presumably from people who think Ray has something to offer - and not worth contributing to.

But Tara is the only one who really does seem to have or even try to have fun during the whole day - she is the only one worth watching whilst the streaming is on ...

And posting just bumps it. (It was already high when I posted this, but I'll ignore it from now on.)

Thanks for contributing all the same.

I didn't say Ray was good, I said he tried. The judges just need to be consistent in what they pick out as good and bad.
Yeah it's for Comic Relief...but in that case why do they go on so much about the vocals...does it really matter??

She's crazy, probably drunk far too much alcohol and smoked too many fags, she shakes like a leaf and sweats like a waterfall.

I absolutely agree with you. I've never been a fan of Tara, I previously always considered her to be a waste of space, but on this show she has shown herself to be vulnerable, warm and most importantly a woman with much more depth than I previously gave her credit for.

It's easy to dismiss her because of her past, but I feel she has now learnt from her mistakes and is trying to put her life back on an even keel.

I'm enjoying her performances and wish her every success, both on the show and on a personal level.

I certainly find I'm see Tara as a person in a new light, but I can't possibly support someone whose singing is so bad. Some nights she's been ok, but I don't understand why she's getting so much praise from the judges, especially Lesley. Her tuning is often way off and her voice is terrible.

Looking back, you could have said the same thing about Bob Dylan, Morrissey, even the Gallagher brothers, but it didn't do any of them any harm, probably because they made each performance their own, with a unique style and delivery.

To answer the original question, yes, you are totally missing it.

She's genuine, doing it all for the right reasons and doesn't think she is the be all.

She is also the only one who actually emotes their songs, which is far more important than a technically perfect performance.

I thought it was too good to be true, I knew the backlash was coming soon

But their singing is far better - I agree that unique is good, but it has to be a certain standard before it can be worth listening to. Imagine you were listening to Tara on the radio - would you really enjoy it?
