Their singing is/was better? No, I don't think so (apologies to fans out there for what follows, but it's my opinion)
Bob D - nasal whine, now a throaty rasp
Morrissey - boring drone
Gallaghers - whiney and nasal/droning
What made/makes them good is their delivery, style and enthusiasm.
And take a look at Frank Sinatra - in my opinion he invariably sang flat. But he had a unique easy style, and made every song his own.
What I am saying is that you don't need to be note-perfect to be judged "good".
Again, apologies for the apparently "destructive" critiques of the singers listed.
