Ruby on Patrick Kielty Almost Live
geilo
17-03-2003
Ruby's down to appear on tonight's Patrick Kielty Almost Live at 10.35pm BBC1.

I wonder when it was recorded - pre -, post or during CRFA? Should be interesting, whatever.

Patrick Kielty Almost Live...

Earlier in his series Patrick mentioned a forthcoming special St Patrick's Day show - I think he said from Dublin.
He said Colin Farrell was expected on the show.
He also invited that night's guests (Dannii Minogue whose new Album was due out today, and perhaps Tom Jones?) to appear; and I think both said they'd try.

But Ruby I didn't know about -
I imagine her part might well be recorded,
but thank you for letting us know about it.

Was the Patrick Kielty show broadcast?

(I had to be in Bristol last night, till late -
and hubby taped me the wrong channel!
When I arrived home, BBC1 was showing constant News all night, from at least midnight -
so I don't know whether I missed PK,
or whether it wasn't broadcast at all.)

She was hilarious! The audience greeted her with tremendous cheering, clapping and shouts of 'Ruuuuby'. Patrick Kielty and Sharron Corr were in fits of laughter most of the time. Unfortunately she moves along so quickly that it's hard to remember much of what she says! However she almost managed to do the splits and reiterated her liking for Jo Brand. They also showed a short clip of her rolling around the floor in the Geri Halliwell song on the final night in the Academy, and once again she looked genuinely uncomfortable watching it.

Agreeing to CRFA must be one of the most important PR decisions that she and her agent have made in recent times. She seems to be as big (if not bigger) a talking point than Will at the moment - Malachi and Claire Sweeney were talking about her on RI:SE this morning.

Hope we get to see more of her.

To be honest I found it a bit self congratulatory. The stories of the stuff they did in the house like the Worst Illness and Wax Facts were related as it they were comedy genius when really it was just a few mates having a laugh. Who hasn't done mad stuff like that with their friends?

Yes, it was funny at the time but once out of the house those jokes are best forgotten. You don't see Malachi and Ainslie reliving the Bad Bad Butcher and the Old Men's Sketch when they are being interviewed!

Ruby is funny, but she's only as good as the format she's put into.

I agree up to a point, but it's inevitable at this stage that interviews with ex Academy paticipants will revolve largely around the CRFA experience. Who decides on the actual topics of conversation? - I guess both sides must have a say/control in that to the benefit of both the programme presenter and the interviewee. Maybe it was felt that there was potentially more humour in certain topics for those viewers, like my husband, who had watched very little of the CRFA coverage last week. He doesn't normally go out of his way to watch her programmes but found her extremely entertaining last night.

I thought Ruby was very funny on this show, very very hyper though,a lot of insecurity there methinks they way she constantly fidgets with her hair and won't shut up acts very full of herself.

but wasn't she always, not really a shock is it ?

but she is sharp as a tack though
