Stubbs Vote Has Turned This Into A Complete Farce
The singing/performance has now been rendered meaningless - Ray can be totally pathetic and still get voted back. They may as well wheel the remainder out; wave at the crowd; have a little pantomime between the judges and tutors and hand the trophy to Ray. The vote for Ray is the reason Tim, Mel and Fred have all gone. He nearly got rid of Tara last night.
I posted a thread to try find out if there were any credible reasons for supporting him - absolutely nothing. If he had anything about him he should be feeling totally embarassed - he has made no progress and just wasted everybody's time. I suppose the public gets what the public deserves - Jade, Chantelle and now 'Sir' Ray Stubbs. |

Nice enough geezer, but painful to watch and listen to when singing. I don't get it either.

I agree. He seems quite pleasant, but not particularly exciting or entertaining. His singing his terrible and hasn't really improved... I can't work it out at all.

I've not voted for him, but it's not really his fault that people are voting for him, is it?

Richard's been raving about how good Ray is, which makes no sense. Lesley's said he's improved, but it just seems to be about trying more difficult songs which he supposedly wouldn't have been able to attempt earlier. (I'm not sure she's claimed his singing's actually improved.) (Not sure about Craig.) The public seem to be backing Ray as well.
It's as if there's some extra factor that none of us can see, but would could it be? It can't be the judges unfairly criticising him, because they're doing the opposite. |

For me it doesn't matter who is the best singer/performer. It's good to have a choice of voting for what you want whether it be the comedy, voice, performance, or just the person. I just vote for who I like best on the night and there are other factors that I take into consideration... it's a little game for me. I give myself 5 votes per night and use them however I want as it's a way of giving money to Comic Relief. Last night Angellica got1 and Tara got 2, Trisha got 2 because she was brilliant.

I think Ray's appeal is that he tells the story rather than try to sing it well; a bit like Tara. He doesn't try to sing because he knows he can't. I liked when he did Wonderwall and I think he's ok. Never voted for him though.

I agree it's not his fault personally that others have gone.
However, I don't enjoy his performances. The blinking is really weird. It must be a football thing that's keeping him in there. |

Oh dear, Angellica's doing Kylie again tonight. Looks like it's definitely bye bye Angellica tonight. There's no way she can avoid singing this WAY out of tune.

It's all for charity - lighten up folks, I don't think he'll be looking to make a career out of it

Why do they always announce his full name?
Is it a clause in his contract? |

I think the person who has ruined this is Richard Park, his decision to save Zoe over Tim was sheer lunacy on his part

I'm hoping he is in the bottom 3 tonight. I'd like him to stay but it'll be interesting to see how he deals with it. Will he still be so cool or will it make him wobble a little bit like it has with the others.

She was appaulling last night, but is getting votes because of her pathetic little girl lost act, and people think she deserves a second chance because she's a reformend junkie . I'm no Stubbs fan but he's a better singer than Tara by a long shot.

His praise is certainly over-the-top, but then Parky loved Zoe so maybe he's just got appalling taste in musical delivery.:?

They started this bandwagon from day 1.
Just watching how they played this shows how unbelievably easy it is for these shows to manipulate people. "But I made up my own mind thank you very much". No you didn't. ![]() They chose Ray to be this 'people's champion' and 'underdog' character right from the start. All this 'Stubbsy', calling him by his full name Ray Stubbs whilst calling everybody else by their full name. Plus this constant referring to him in glowing terms like he's a legend. It's bloody ridiculous. And it's not that different with Tara. In other shows it would normally be the case to promote Shaun and Tricia...but even here the show has managed to put negative thoughts into the viewer's heads concerning these two. They can do absolutely anything they want and it will work to some extent. It will affect a lot of people. They shaped the personas so easily this year. Just compare the performances of Ray and Fred. They could so easily have chosen Fred to be their favoured champion if they so wished. Somehow they've got the idea into people's heads that Shaun and Tricia are boring people, and that Ray and Tara provide riveting performances. But this is only due to the agenda that they decided to set. You can focus on anything you want in order to promote either the negative or the positive. If they wished they could have said that Ray and Tara are bad and don't put real emotion into their performances and they could say that Shaun and Tricia do. I'm neither a fan of any of those four or somebody who particularly dislikes any of them. I'm just saying how easy I think it was for the programme makers to get the public to think exactly the same way that they are trying to promote or undermine these people. Yes she's not great, but most of them aren't either. I definitely saw an improvement in her. I think the judges have been extremely harsh on Angellica over the last two nights. Because when I sit back and look at it, in my opinion she's certainly no worse than Ray (and possibly Tara either). It's just that she seems to be given lightweight poppy songs but Ray and Tara are given big anthems or show stoppers. It was quite satisfying to see Angellica scrape through last night, and I'd be quite amused if she manages it again tonight although I doubt she will tonight. |
