This year we are short of the big hitter comedy wise

In the first year they had Ruby and the second they had Ade - both of them fairly big hitters in the comedy stakes and both of them prepared to make an absolute ar@e of themselves on stage in order to make people laugh - it is Comic Relief after all. Therefore in the final we had two decent singers and one comic performance which is what it should really be about.

This year however we haven't really had the big hitter - Mel was OK but not really on the money when it came to clowning around. Which is why for me its a bit disappointing that at this stage we have a couple of reasonable singers (Shaun is OK but neither of them are as good as the best singers in previous years), and the others are all nothing special in either singing or pratting around.

Its obvious that the judges are always going to save Shaun and tricia (unless they are in the bottom three together) on the basis that they have the best singing voices so that leaves one other place left open. This is unless of course both Tricia and shaun are in the bottom two in which case I think the students will save whichever one isn't saved by the judges as they believe them to be brilliant beyond compare. (except maybe Colin who will see them as a threat).

For me tara is the only amusing one there - she at least makes me laugh which is more than any of the others do, but other than that its looking pretty grim.

Seems like a reasonable analysis

I think the reason that Mel and Tim didn't get the votes was because they weren't crazy funny. It didn't help also that they both had pretty good voices.

Ruby Wax was the funniest ever because she really couldn't sing but gave really good performances that I looked forward to seeing each night.

I'm not sure Richard would save them, though. So Craig and Lesley have to keep agreeing in their votes.

Tim was booted out before he'd got even started Bloomin' liberty of that Richard Park picking Zoe over him. It was hard to remember Fred is a comedian - Shaun's funnier than him, and thats only because he's got hair like a Clingon.

Definitely lacking laughs in this years F.A. Is it because of the vocal coaches and Jeremy trying to dig deep on a personal level to attain achievement, rather than having an enjoyable time entertaining us. Its basically the same as a normal F.A, but I was expecting more humour because it is for Comic Relief.

Tara to win

He said last night he would have voted to save Tara over Tricia

I don't think they'll save Tricia again (I hope) they'll probably go for Angelica who everyone is saying has improved much more (can't see it myself - she still sounds like a guinea pig in labour to me). Tricias not getting the public support but Angelica is weirdly enough. Jeremy tells her today - "you came in a girl and now you're a woman..". Amazing what singing a few songs in public can do eh.

I actually think Lesley and Craig are likely to continue to save the singers rather than the improvers, so I'd be amazed if either picked Angellica.

I think Tim, although not going for the funny singing, would have provided more entertainment. Did anyone see his pen "trick"?

I agree. I think they want at least one "proper" singer in the final.

Interesting who they save if its Shaun and Tricia

I thought it was about singing, not stand-up.

Yes, that would be really interesting. I was a bit worried it might happen yesterday when they were down to 4 and both were still there.

It's a shame that they couldn't get Julian Clary for CFA.

He'd have been hilarious

If Shaun and Tricia were both in the bottom three then I think Craig would effectively get the casting vote...if Lesley had any sense (which I guess is debatable) then she'd have to follow his vote to make sure Richard didn't save the third person (which he probably would, unless it was Colin).

Actually that's true. I wish Lesley was the first to vote, as she has the most sense of the 3.

The judges and public kept forgetting this is meant to be fun and voted off some good talent - ie Mel and Tim.

Agree all that. The obvious last 5 on past performance and musical ability here would have been two comics plius the two singers (such as they are) and Tara. The comics here could sing so any perm produced a good final. Without high quality singers, they needed the comedy more not less. If Mel and Tim were not obvious enough all they had to do was start using them for things like duets (Edith and Ade) give them better songs and more props or encourage and show things like Mel and Tricia singing Abba together as they did on live streaming.

As it is they have missed the main point which is that if they give me a show like CFA2 with lots of interaction, great singing , real competition and a couple of comedy turns I will vote - if they give me dull people. zero comedy and awful to pedestrian singing I won't.

its now looking very bizarre. No comics at all. No one to attract the kids vote. The person with the journey story left today. The only reason to watch is the negative one of hoping that certain people go. its such a contrast with last time when the livestreaming was unmissable , the comedy was really good, there were 4 excellent female singers and you really wanted someone to win for singing well.

Next year they should NOT have people who can already sing as this ruins the whole thing.

Have a good mix of people who are non-singers trying their best.

Well I wouldn't watch that.

Tim was the only other favourite of mine along with Tara.

The others haven't grown on me at all and in fact irritate me.

Tim went far too early. I loved his easygoing manner and he didn't take himself seriously at all.

So Tara to win, she's the only reason I tune in to an otherwise very dull show.

I disagree with that. I wouldn't watch a bunch of non-singers crucifying the songs everynight - I can get that down at the local karaoke.

It needs some really good comedy combined with some pretty good singing. Last time Debra, Edith, Kim and the girl from Monarch of the Glen could all sing fairly well and it made it good entertainment. Couple that with Ade and the other comic who was in it for a while and it was a good show.

This year the comedy isn't anywhere near the other years - plus what we have had has been voted off (blidy RP voting Tim off in favour of Zoe - he totally missed the point there) and some less than average singers Its falling between two stools.
