Hi

Recently bought the above TV. All working perfect so far.
One query though - whilst the remote control works perfectly and all the buttons are smooth and reactive, I find when switching on and off the tv I need to press the button in for slightly longer before it either goes off or comes on- can anyone clarify if that is normal

thanks

Geoff

It's the same on my parents' 37" Panny plasma, so that's two of us at least.

Yes, same on my 42", perfectly normal.

On a related subject, I've got my Virgin Media (NTL) box connected through Scart but am not using a conventional aerial i.e. I do not use the built in Freeview tuner. How can I get the TV to come on direct to the AV channel when powering up so I don't have to always press AV to get to cable? Any ideas?

Yes it is the same on my 42" Panny, it is not a fault though because it does exactly the same thing if you turn it on manually, the red light flickers for a few seconds before staying on. Maybe plasmas just have a longer start up time than other tellys.

Never turn the TV off via the remote, as a problem may occur where one morining you may go to the TV and be unable to turn it on at all. I've heard of many cases of it in the past. It's something to do with the LED/Power failing in that area or something and it costs a fortune to repair.

Always use the button on the TV itself to turn it off.

Ooooh, thats interesting, thanks for the tip LordXenon. Does that also apply if you turn your tv off at the mains straight after or is it only if you leave it on standby all night? (tsk, tsk but some folks still do it!)
