...when he's not doing Fame Academy? What is his day job, and what makes him qualified to make his...ahem..."expert" remarks?

What does he do?

Flares his sizeable nostrils a lot.

Likes the sound of his own voice.

Annoys me.

What does Richard Park do?
Dye his hair for a start. He's 59 after all. According to IMDB.com he has been married 3 times and has EIGHT children.

The man is a legend in broadcasting and media circles. He has a tremendous track record in recognising talent and doesn't believe in not telling the truth. You cannot help but respect the guy.

I know he was the manager at Capital FM in London for about 20 years and was responsible for getting their highest ever audience figures.

Rubbish, I have no respect for him whatsoever. If he has been successful in other aspects of this career then fine, but in this role (pantomime baddie) he has no conception of what is really needed, and just uses it as a vehicle to push his egotistical, vacuous arguments forward, with no care as to their value or relevance.

The man comes across as an ignorant loudmouth, who couldn't care less who he hurts just as long as he has the opportunity to mouth off on prime time television.

I find him utterly repulsive.

- Won the very first Oscar of the radio world becoming Sony Broadcaster of the Year as well as adding Best Sports Presenter (worldwide) at the New York Radio Festival

- Moved to London in 1987 to become Programme Controller of Capital Radio and discovered and hired Chris Tarrant, Neil Fox, Pete Tong and Tim Westwood.

- Turned Capital FM into reaching it's biggest ever audience share and the biggest city-share in the world.

- Richard was responsible for launching Help a London Child lunch (in the presence of Diana, Princess of Wales)

- Created Party in the Park in Hyde Park

- Brokered the deal with Pepsi to create the Pepsi Chart

- Richard was made a Fellow of the Radio Academy and awarded the IMF British Music Roll of Honour to recognise an outstanding contribution to British Music.

- United Capital and Telstar Records, which as Director made him responsible for signing Craig David amongst others.

- Was given the title of Most Influential Person in the Music Industry by Record and Radio Executives.

- Consultant to EMAP radio, advising on the output of stations such as Magic 105.4 alongside EMAP's Big City Network

- Has his own record label, Park Records, a joint venture with Universal Music alongside Park Publishing.

- A member of the Brits Committee, planning Britain's biggest music awards ceremony.

In the first Fame Academy, Parky was a legend and was totally correct in what he said during the series. Have any of the "stars" made it in the music industry (Lemar being an exception, arguably the only one Park backed)? In the 2nd series, Alex Parks was heralded as the next superstar, Park kept a downer on it and has been proved yet again to be correct.

So love him or loathe him, I think he's earned his right to give an opinion and tbh Kielty and some others should have a lot more respect imo.

I don't know him but I do know I don't like pomposity and arrogance, which he displays in abundance.

I may listen to his opinion but if I don't agree I don't agree, I'm not led by what he says, and I wouldn't be swayed because he and others consider him to be some mega meeja mogul.

It's just personal taste at the end of the day. Mine is relevant to me, his is not!

Good for you, even if I don't know why you're saying it! So nice to find an independent spirit these days.

I'm not especially a Park fan, by the way.

Richard Park - the man who discovered Tim Westwood!

I have no idea why the public don't like Parky?!

For all his undoubted knowledge, what gets me is the way he became a pantomime baddie for FA2, when in FA1, his critiques were honest without being nasty.

Oh and he brought us Tim Westwood, Chris Tarrant, Neil Fox and Pete Tong? Shoot him!

I can't decide who should be winner of most arrogant between him and Simon Cowell.

They are both full of their own importance..oh and can't help show blatent favouritism for young women...Zoe for example

Atl least Simon is often funny.

And he doesn't always favour the young women. In last year's American Idol he wanted Chris Daugtry to win - a bald header rocker - and not Katherine McPhee - who, IMO, is the best looking girl I've ever seen on any of these singing shows so far. Google her...
