Good point. Plenty of moans when, for example, Emma Bunton and Jill Halfpenny went on Strictly (they had both done a bit of dancing before) so I guess their history is irrelevant.

Unfair advantage on the complete novices though. Both had stage experience as singers, Shaun even gigs Butlins.
The winner should be one of the newbies imo.

I doubt if it would be allowed. They wouldn't want to miss a nights revenue especially as it is for Comic Relief. He would probably just be given a pass to the Semi-final.

There would be hell on if he was asked to leave the competition. Going similar occurences I remember when David Seaman's partner was unable to compete in DOI they gave David a bye to the next round

Vote Stubbsy

Who do you think will top the public vote
The Forums and polls have never been correct when it comes to "saving" a celeb. Each person has been in the bottom 3 at some stage despite Tara leading the polls by a mile for some time. Ray was the last to drop to bottom 3 so its likely that Ray, Shaun, Tricia and Colin all have about the same level of support (+/- 5%) but well behind Tara.

Tara's problem is that not all her fans are supporting her every night.

I know you're not the only one saying that, but no-one has yet given me a satisfactory answer as to why they think that! I'm not saying it's not true, just that I haven't seen any evidence of it. I can't think of any reason why trained singers shouldn't be on this programme.

As if anyone would notice the difference!

At this point we should have been down to the singers and the comedians. The Great British Public in their infinite wisdom decided not to support the comedians.

So it's between the singers and the nothings.

Personally I hope Colin or Ray go, I'm finding their voices a bit painful now.

As for Shaun and Tricia taking it too seriously, what would people say if they came out onto the stage and, using their better vocals, didn't put the effort in and warbled their way through the songs. Arrogant? Think they've a god-given right to go through?

If people want to imagine in their little minds that this one is more desperate to win than that one, or this one is taking it more seriously than that one, I feel sorry for them.

Ignore the hype and use your ears!

Trained singers are pros and therefore have an unfair advantage, this should be for amateurs. The title is Fame Acadamy, and academy invites thoughts of learning something

Even those that can sing (Shaun for instance) are capable of learning things - things such as presentation, timing, connecting with the audience (aka working the audience). This is all part and parcel of being a singer. And then of course the voice can be trained even more, allowing the singer to tackle a wider range of styles.

Yes, but they have the most important skill already, they can sing. This should be for people who are starting from scratch

I think the people who are anti-Shaun and Tricia because they can sing a bit are taking this far too seriously. It's entertainment to raise money. They'll all raise their profile. That's why they did it. Tara's motives are no more and no less honourable than Shaun's.

What's the betting then that one of the "singers" does NOT win?

Whilst your logic might be correct, the illogical part of the process is the voting public, who will be voting based upon many things, an ability to sing note-perfect is probably way down the list.

What I don't get is that on the one hand people are saying you shouldn't have all these trained singers as it's all supposed to be a bit of fun for comic relief, then on the other hand they themselves are getting all technical about it being unfair as they've got a headstart! You can't have it both ways.

Well they're all learning something - for example, Shaun has improved far more than Ray.

I think Colin will go because hes singing unchained melody.
Its a shame because I think with the right songs he could be fantastic.
Bottom 2 i reckon will be Ray and Colin.

Tricia, Colin and Ray. Tricia saved by judges, Colin saved by students because Ray is ill. Ray goes.

I was surprised that Colin managed to beat both Shaun and Tricia in the public vote last night. Radio 1 fans with a lot of voting dollars no doubt.

Remembering that only ONE celebrity gets through on the public vote in tonights show...I do hope that Tricia gets voted by the students* to join Tara in the final. A double elimination in a semi final is a bit rough on the contestants, don't you think?

*Four students but only two can go through to the final, so tonight everyone's place is in jeopardy. Viewers vote for one finalist but, in a surprise twist, all the ex-students return to decide who will win the other coveted place.

My prediction for tonight... or you could say wishful thinking

Tara through with the most votes

Trisha eliminated with the least public votes

Students save Barry from Eastenders over Colin

Final tomorrow Barry v Tara

I am not sure that there IS an elimination of the least public vote, but if there was, it would be Shaun who would be eliminated before Tricia (her support is picking up). Which would leave a Tara v Tricia Final.

Apparently there is. Then an ex student vote, with two for the final.. so I read on here somewhere
