Tara's the star
Tara's the most entertaining, the most engaging, the most exciting, and her performances are the most moving. For me she's the only one with star quality.
Shaun's got a great face for radio, and is simply boring. Clearly when he was Barry in EastEnders he was typecast. Tricia - trailer trash, too competitive, too aggressive, tried to do the dirty on Colin to vote off a strong competitor (stronger than Angellica anyway). Sure, Tara tried to vote Colin off too, but that's because she and Colin hate each other. Ray is a good guy of limited singing ability, but I agree with Richard that last night's performance was perhaps the best by anyone in the competition. I think he'd be embarrassed to win outright though. Colin is a likable guy who tries hard, but I don't see him winning the whole thing. In fact, I don't see him surviving tonight. 5th - Colin 4th - Ray 3rd - Tricia Runner-up - Shaun Winner - Tara Last edited by DerbyRam1 : 14-03-2007 at 11:54. |

Totally disagree. Tara is shambolic and needy as she is is all the celeb shows she appears in. Cant understand why people fall for the "vulnerability" nonsense.
Typical spoilt brat who can buy her way through life. As all the "problems and troubles" she has "battled with" in her life most ordinary people have to face far greater trials with far less support and they just get on and deal with it without all the attention seeking nonsense. Sorry rant over but I do not find her at all entertaining. Give me Ray and Colin - who cant sing - for watchability any day. |

Sorry - I totally disagree.
I just don't get the appeal of Tara. She is a rich young woman with every privilege; I don't find her endearing I find her childishness grating and embarrassing. She is manipulative (the way she cries all the time - it's a reality show not a torture chamber FFS). Her performances are terrible - she cannot sing at all - she's by far the worst. I appreciate she's had addiction problems but I cannot bear her. |

I only dip in and out of this programme and the reason I do is to see how Tara is getting on, I would love her to win.

She can win this - posted this on another thread: Quote:
Just watched a bit of Tara rehearsing moves for Rainy Days and Mondays. Am I the only one who thinks that its about time we injected some comedy. Come on Tara, sing with all the vunerability we have come to love and then walk away towards the steps, pick up an umberella and as you start to put it up - get soaked I'm not being horrible, I think it would work. Show another side to yourself, Tara. |

I agree I cant really understand how or why Tara is so popular. Her performances are ok.... but despite the fact that the judges tend to say nice things about her.... she is often in the last few.
She seems so immature and attention seeking... always in the papers with her latest failed romance or project. Shes a serial reality show performer/presenter. Has shedloads of cash and has had a priveledged life few of us could dream of ..... why are we all so sorry for her? |

Don't forget peeps she is perfoming the songs how she is directed to by the coaches and Kevin is not always right.
Tara sings with emotion and expression of the song if left to her own devices and sometimes she gets muddled because she has to concentrate on the moves Kevin wants which go against her instincts and this leads to her dropping concentration on the singing. |

Sorry but this label really gets my goat. She can't help her upbring no more than an underpriveledged person can coming from some slums or other. Nobody should be judged because of their background or money or lack of. Tara has had to struggle to be accepted because of her background just as much , if not more , than some from less fortunate ones just because of peoples prejudices. |

I was never a fan in the past but liking her the best out of this lot. At least she is showing real human vulnerability which doesn't look staged to me.
I think her imperfections are what makes a lot of people connect with her and she's shown quite a lot of those during the show. I literally hold my breath every night that she is on, egging her on not to make a disaster out of it. But it is those moments that I also find her very endearing and fragile. Some of the songs she's sung have been the most emotional out of all the contestants...and have brought a wee tear to my eye.

I don't think it's her fault what background she was born into, but I do think she wants to be accepted as a person who has made mistakes and wants to learn from them. At least that is how she is coming across to me.

Well Fred MacAulay picked up on Tara's appeal. In his interview on BBC3 after being expelled he was raving about her, describing her as the star of the show. The other "students" range from nice guy Ray to not very nice Tricia, and from a very good singing voice (Tricia and Shaun) to not so good voice (Colin and Ray). But Tara offers so much more. She's extrovert, exciting, fun-loving, flighty, moody, a talented musician, and also totally unpredictable, and all these qualities are what make people listen to and watch her performances. She's the only one with star quality, with the X-factor, whatever you want to call it. Maybe she has these qualities as a result of her unique upbringing, but that's not her fault - that's just the way she is.

Oh poor poor Tara, if only I had had all the chances she did ...
And without necessarily having a good voice, anyone that can play a musical instrument reasonably well ought to have a basic ability to hold a note. It just goes to show that if you can get yourself in the papers often enough you can be a star without actually doing anything. She might be more refined and so on, but she's no more use than Jade Goody, or a chocolate fireguard... |

Her performance is the only one that really moves me - whatever her background & baggage - and that is why I vote for her every day.
I'm looking forward to her duet with Colin tonight. |

Oh boo-hoo at poor old Tara 'struggling to be accepted'. I shall reserve my sympathies for people with little or no money who struggle to make ends meet every day, not some spolit little Madam who spent untold amounts on Colombian marching powder and who has not shown any talent in anything. |
