Has anyone had the firmware upgraded on their Sony DVP-S725? Does it fix the lip-synch problems on some films? Did the retailer do it for free?

I have an S-725D and have had some lip synching problems which i blamed my not so good Tecnics Dolby Digital amp on. Can you tell me more about this firmware update and what is wrong with the player?

My player is chipped by the local sony centre. (well, at the time i bought it an it still is the case to some extent now it is/was a must to get the player chipped) Do you think i should approach them with the query. But what does the firmware rectify in the software? If it is the lip-synching i'll definitely take it back but if it is something silly then i won't bother. Please help!

as far as i am concerned the upgrade is to cure lipsync probs and also to improve layer transistion on the dual layer software as far as upgrading the software in the mods goes i know the revision at the min is 2.8 or something but persoanlly i will not be replacing mod chips for newer software if i get my way!! it is way too much hassle and you are exteneding the risk of damamge to the pcb from intensive soldering!
