I just think he was really putting that sickness on for the sympathy vote. Yes, he might have been under the weather but to put all that coughing and spluttering on, to keep saying how rough he felt was really out of order. He should have just got on with it. He should have said to Claudia that he felt well enough to sing and he didn't want his alledged sickness to be used as an excuse. But he didnt say this - he was just after sympathy.

And lets face it, even if he was 100 per cent well enough he would have still sung as badly as he did tonight. I just cannot believe why he is still in it. He's a dreadful singer- and he has no charisma. I'm one of the many who is puzzled why he is still in it.

I'm hoping Tara will get through.

Let's be honest he isn't an ambulance case is he and if you can't sing anyway it shouldn't make too much difference. No doubt they will be calling him the 'comeback kid' if he recovers tomorrow - Ray will love that. By the way in the clips they show to fill has anyone ever seen him do anything remotely interesting - anything?

Your wish will be granted as Ray will no doubt be going home today. Even if he's voted through to the next round, he'll probably have to leave the contest. You'll have to find someone else to focus your negative thoughts on now. How about Shaun, Tricia, Tara or Colin?

It's all for 'charidee'. I'd like to personally say a big thank you to Ray, Tim, Mel and all the other participants for their efforts!

Him lying asleep completely full of cold earlier was far more interesting than any of your constant anti Ray comments.

Ah shut you up now I bet. He didnt go for the sympathy, he did more than you are doing. He got off his arse and his sick bed to help raise money for a worthy cause.

Excuse me, he did get on with it.

However isn't ironic that you then agreed on another thread that he shouldn't be on the stage performing if he's not well?

That sounds to me like someone contradicting themselves.

It's a case of damned if he did and damned if he didn't really- Poor Ray, I liked him and he put his heart and soul into what he did, so good luck to him.

Its not being contradicting, its called being sarcastic. You obviously didn't get the sarcasm in my thread!

Still, will make it easier for you to understand next time!

I can see why Ray wanted to perform tonight - not wanting to let the side down and with it all being for 'charidee'.

Catch Ray on BBC3 performing what would have been tomorrow's song. They've told him he could back out of it if he thought his voice wasn't up to it but he's gonna carry on. What a way to leave the contest - a professional to the end.

So am I right in that it was only a cold?

You would have thought he was on death's door or something.

He's not dying, thankfully. I suppose we have to have some drama. The 'will he or won't he perform?' if he gets through to the next stage scenario.

He was struggling with his throat during 'Parklife' on BBC3. At least he's had a good go of it even if he can't sing (with or without a throat infection. )

In the context of it being a singing show someone having a cold is a big deal.

Fair play to the guy for carrying onto BBC3, even though he quite obviously isn't feeling upto much. He so could have easily backed out of the "triangle of terror" but chose to as he didn't want to let anyone down. Class A bloke.

I can't believe this hasn't been said but what would you have preferred, Ray Stubbs to pull out so no one votes for him and therefore charidee misses out?!

He should have really milked it and arrived on stage in a stretcher surrounded by St John Ambulence crew!

He did desreve to go though...

What a harsh bunch on this thread. I thought he did very well and has shone through as a nice guy and has received many votes which will aid comic relief. I dont think he deserves some of the comments made on this thread. Good on you Ray well done.

Fair play to Ray. He has come across as a really great guy, and it's obvious that the rest of the contestants also really like him.

I think he performed far better than Colin - Ray was ill, what's Colin's excuse?

I heartily agree - the snidey comments belong in the playground, not here. It just shows what a cynical lot we are.

Well if he had the flu that I had earlier in the year - and tome it looked and sounded like he did - then he is lucky he could even get out of bed.

Respect to him for trying and I think some people are genuinely mean.

agree with cornchips.

i've been off the last 4 days with a similar throat/chest thing and while it obviously differs from person to,person, Ray was very brave in performing while feeling like shite.

True, he's not a great singer, never will be, but in his own way he was pretty entertaining to watch.

Ray wasn't faking. He looked and sounded dead rough. I felt sorry for him.
