My wife bought a Samsung SGH E870 last autumn, and it was wonderful and worked perfectly.

However, the charger cord damaged the charger socket on the phone (bent pin), so O2 replaced it.

THREE TIMES !

Each new phone works fine in some areas, but the outgoing voice is not heard in weaker connection areas. VERY frustrating. Every time we send it back, it takes 10 days, and the new (reconditioned) E870s do not work.

Even in the O2 shop, they don't work sometimes.

SO...................

It occurred to me that perhaps the phone has some sort of hidden "Conserve Battery Life" setting, which is preventing the phone from using full transmit power...

Does anyone know anything about such a feature?

Thanks !

Took the phone back to the O2 shop today, and they verified that it doesn't work. The phone can hear callers, but callers cannot hear the phone owner (both outgoing and incoming calls)

Just down the block, the phone works fine though.

This is the THIRD phone with the same problem....

Sigh...
