Too cocky, too self assured and too desperate to win - put a lot of people off her.
Edith was reserved, and was there to have a good time - - and just connected more - oh and she could sing too! |

I've been watching some of those clips on youtube and I'd forgotten quite how good she was. It's a shame we didn't have anyone like that this time. Does anyone know what she's been doing since she left Eastenders? I know she's taking over the lead role in Cabaret soon, which will definitely suit her! |

I think she was amazing especially with OTR. However, just like this year, she could always sing, but Edith certainly was the funniest of the two and the most entertaining, not to mention had made the most progress because she could hardly sing a note to start with. I dont like Edith normally but her courage in FA encouraged me to vote for her. That's why Im also supporting Tara this year. I think if most people got over the "woman who has got it all" issue, they would likely agree she has been by far the best entertainment value and deserves to win.

yep I loved Kim. This year I was mainly voting for entertainment and supported Tara, mainly because the good singers this year weren't really that great.
But Kim was amazing, and I really thought it was a shame that she didn't win, I liked Edith too though.... And Aid too for the comedy side! |

Just looked at the YouTube clips of Kim (thanks). Impressed. Does anyone know where to view her performance of the Delta Goodrem song "Born to Try"?

I thought she was the best singer of the last two series, but Richard went over the top comparing her with the original artists at times. Don't think she was that good

I think her choice of song for the Final (Somewhere Over The Rainbow) was a huge mistake imo. Kim had sung other songs that were much better and I think a lot of people who vote are fairly young and that song just did not do it!! What is she doing now? I have heard nothing about her since she left EastEnders and seems to have disappeared off the scene. So many of these soap stars do, leave the soap and are never seen again!! She is very talented and I liked her. I was surprised she was not a guest on this year's Fame Academy, not even in the audience (Edith was there I guess because of Colin!).

Edith was reserved, and was there to have a good time - - and just connected more - oh and she could sing too! I couldn't see an ounce of cockiness or self-assuredness about Kim, though she should have had both by the bucketload as she was the best singer in the competition by a league and one of the best vocalists to enter any of these "celebrity" talent shows (second only to the exceptional Richard Fleeshman in my opinion). Edith had already had a stab at a career in singing before, after many knock-backs, turning to DJ-ing as a way of getting a foot in the door, and the BBC saw her winning as the opportunity for her to relaunch her singing career and take the credit for it. The proof of the pudding is in the eating though and it is Kim who has gone on to have the musical career while Edith is still plugging away at the old day job. She was never going to be the "new Debbie Harry"or "new Karen Carpenter" that hyper-hyper-hyper-hyperbole'd Richard Park described her as (or maybe he meant the new Harry Carpenter!) but the BBC saw fit to pull out all the stops to ensure her victory, including closing the voting lines as soon as her fellow finalist had finished her last big number. |

She would be a natural as Roxy or Velma in 'Chicago' or even Beth in 'The War of the Worlds' (but that part has already gone to Sinead Quinn for this year's tour). Quote:

Kim may have wanted to move into pop but she's ended up where she should have using her acting talent and belting voice in Cabaret. The reason Edith won is quite simple and was explained by the only judge who could sing, Craig who preferred her and both music coaches. Edith understood music and the lyrics , could sing in practically every style and interpreted her songs brilliantly - Kim was better trained, had less variety and was more note perfect but had to be taken through every note of the song working out how to sing it . It was a choice between someone who felt the music and someone who sang it accurately and it wasn't at all unusual that the public voted for the former to win. |
