The most to the point post on the thread

The whole point of "pc" is to stop people giving offense. The only problem is that it is constantly used when no offense is meant.
It is also a very useful tool when undermining different opinions, people are sick to their back teeth of perponents and their "holier than thou" attitude.

It is causing resentment and division, so now these same people are arguing that there is no such thing as "pc".
How much damage are they prepared to do before they give up their pathetic power kicks?

Thanks for that. The reason I ask is because there are two schools of thought as to why. The one is the reason you gave, and the other is that the alteration of say black, to white, is for educational purposes.

I'd be interested to find out where 'PC' is constantly being used.

Given all the debates we've had on here about it, actual PC doesn't seem that prevalent, reports of 'pc gone mad' aren't that hard to find though.

Seems to me you have just illustrated the point I was trying to make.
There have been examples given on this thread, for the sake of argument, lets believe posters' accounts of personal experience are true.
To paraphrase what imo is their main complaint runs like this, "this has happened to me, I am not particually happy about it, I am insulted that I am assumed to be giving offense where no offense is intended"

Instead of coming forward with an argument to counter the negative reaction, nearly all the "anti" posts have been along the lines of "this is not happening, there is some other reason for it, you are lying, back it up with phone numbers/names of institutions."

As a kind of last resort trump card, it is insinuated that anybody who complains, is in thrall to newspapers and "pc gone mad" headlines.

How about the legitimate view, expressed by many posters on this and other threads, that indeed there are ridiculous decisions made under the guise of not giving offense i.e "pc" that need to be questioned.
That people trying to defend aforementioned decisions don't really have a defense and will instead attack the questioners.
