Tara= emperors new clothes
It is totally ridiculous.
I watched last night and she was shockingly bad. Penny Lane was dreadful, flat bum notes, she CANNOT sing. And I watched out for this emotion everyone is on about, what emotion? she walked around the stage and did NOTHING. The judges are all just licking up to her because she is well connected and turns on the tears at evey opportunity. I never really knew much about her before but watching last night I was like, I cannot believe people are so duped. She's so needy, desperate for applause. And I actually think it is really cruel of the coaches and judges to dupe her into thinking she has any talent - she hasn't!!! |

I think you miss the point with these type of competitions. Like Soapstar Superstar it's more about entertainment, personality and likeability.

Yes, but the judges duped a lot of the contestants into believing theyre really good. ie: Ray, Colin, Angelica, Fred etc. The list is endless.
Yes, she wasn't good at Penny Lane but she was great at These Boots and also the slow songs like Jolene and Another Suitcase. That showed a real vulnerable side. I do understand some of what you're saying as I felt like you did towards Ray and Angelica, but a lot of people are really warming to Tara as she's so funny and childlike. |

I like Tara, just because you dont doesnt mean those that do are 'duped', they just like different things to you, thats a fact of life. Anyway she has a great musical talent for playing the piano, and has performed in public on a number of occasions to good reviews.

I've discovered a whole new side to Tara in CFA. What you see is what you get, she shows her vulnerability and her nuttiness. There have been plenty of successful artistes whose singing voices are not brilliant but have charisma and the X Factor. I hope she wins.

Yesterday's Boots for walking was pure entertainment for me.
A real performance by a real performer And some other songs that Tara did sing really touched me even more than sung by the original artist. Art is about touching/connecting with people through art and that is what Tara does, technical perfect or not. |

Wading in......
I agree that Penny Lane was dreadful last night, and I myself didn't like the Boots song either, I thought she shouted/growled and it just didn't do it for me (nice boots though). The couple of slow songs that TPT did previously have gone ok, mainly because she was clearly fighting back the tears. However, I'd warn the person who started this thread, TPT seems to inspire a random passion in people, who cannot stand a word of criticism, or in your case, merely stating the obvious, that she hasn't got a good voice. So i suggest you brace yourself!!! |

Spot on mate, I found every thing she did cringeworthy, never mind it is over for another year and it is a very good cause. No way will I watch her win tonight. LOL |

Looks like she's a love her or hate character. I love her.
![]() Last's nights Penny Lane was the wrong song for her. Shaun's Chasing Cars was wrong for him...they should have swapped and both would have been great but Boots yet again was superb as an entire performance.Tara is just a one-off. She's mad as a brush, happy as a pig in poop one minute, torturing herself for not being good at anything the next. From what of seen, (on other shows too) her generosity and downright niceness shines through. She's comical and endearing to look at on F.A., loping about the stage like a newborn deer, all gangly legs and awkwardness and she so knows it She's not harming anyone - only herself in the past - and she's brought smiles to hundreds with her determination to just get on with it, when there were many times she thought she couldn't. Fighting spirit, generosity and humour is what Comic Relief is about. Tara has all three in bucketloads. Tara to Win

Stupid of me not realising that before Some people take this programme way too seriously. Conspiracy theories abound too. I think it extremely unlikely any of them have substance.

I really don't get the comments about her rich daddy
Why on earth would that make any difference to how well Tara does on a public vote. Do you think that those that vote for her think her daddy will come round and re-imburse us all... or maybe that her daddy will give a generous amount to Comic Relief if his daughter wins...in that case the charity is the winner again. Her background doesn't come into it for me, she has been the most engaging perfomer by miles this year. When she sang Jolene - that was when she won me over. For me Tara is too thin, too rich & too ready to cry at the drop of a hat.
But - she is the only one on fame academy that makes me smile, & also make me cry. And what is more her outfits are to die for! She is going to win the contest.... |

She has grown on me immensely throughout the competition. I didn't like her before (I had only seen her 'negative' press etc) but have come to realise she is is as insecure, generous and funny as a 'normal' person and someone I would probably quite like in real life. I also think her voice is appaling but there is something in her performance that makes up for it. I did think her first performance of Boots was better but she still delivers each time and shows her vulnerability.
Also, she is an accomplished concert pianist - something I didn't know before - which means she is not as talentless as people makeout and certainly more than the rich IT girl people like to call her. I went to boarding school with people who were just like her - rich, misguided, easily influenced as they were desperate for approval and they were so kind, so loyal and so down to earth. Rich or poor does not the person make; it's the upbringing and the family behind them. And hers seem lovely. I say let her win. I like her. |

I like Tara and have done so for a long time. My voting for her in CFA is not because she's a singer, not because she's 'comfortable' on stage, not because she's the best performer but because .. in terms of the last 10 days ... she has made the most amazing progress.
This is a lass who (as we know from IACGMOOH and subsequent presenting) couldn't be other than childish and mecurial in temperament. In CFA she has HAD to stand on a stage, night after night, and get through a song. The discipline that has taken is HUGE. And she's doing it. And her voice is getting better - sometimes she'll sing a phrase and sound like a singer. Somewhere she's found some courage. I had honestly expected her either just to fool about and throw a tantrum OR walk out. She's done neither. She's stuck at it. And ... on top of that ... she is a genuinely funny lass a lot of the time. Her antics in the Academy have had us laughing. AND ... on top of THAT .... be aware that the CFA HMs like her. I applaud her. And I will be voting for her to win tonight!

Glinny,
I take offence at your comment about Tara winning because "her daddy is extremely rich"! What a stupid thing to say and I'm tired of people like yourelf who immediately hate someone because they are monied. You sound like a very bitter and jealous person, and because she is monied you have a bitterness towards her and her family. Whether someone is monied, poor or inbetween, never judge them on that. That says more about you than any monied person. I hate all this class/wealth bitterness. |
