EE - Producers must really bring back great characters that made EE unmissable!!!
I miss having my soap drama treat every 7pm that is EE.
But have to say I haven't watched it for so long now, I simply don't care about EE anymore & it's characters not to mention some of the acting are just awful.....that's why I was reminiscing & remembering those times when EE used to have the David Wicksy & co.....it really was always a WOW moment for me as EE goes in those days! I'm sure it's not just me who miss the gritty storylines, excellent actors (men & women) & their characters where every episode is a cliffhanger & a "must" watch what happens next! There's always a proper continuity of storylines & build-up of characters. Will it ever resurrect its once top of the league status they held for many years? IMO it's a sad no & I think it's slowly going to be just like the fate of Brookside if they're not careful. |

Im enjoying EE suppose its just what you like at the end of the day. When was it on at 7pm?
I dont think it will meet the same fate as brookie did lol. Maybe we expect too much from our soaps or maybe we are right in wanting something more gritty. If you havent watched if for soo long how do you know that its not gritty just now just by reading these threads? |

Maybe you should start watching again as new boss Diederick Santer plans to restore the grittiness and East End feel to the soap. His main work kicks in within the next few weeks.
If your not going to take the time to get to know the new characters then you will never enjoy it. Sure there are a few bad actors but all soaps are like that and EastEnders was never 100% perfect all the time as people would like to believe and EastEnders has some top talent right now and most of them will be around for years to come. You mustnt have watched for a long time because my soap treat at 7 is Emmerdale every night!
Anyway i seriously doubt EE will meet the fate of Brookside. EE is improving again. Every soap has a bad patch-its just people went on about EE's because the other two were so good! But like everyones saying this new guy should shake things up-and already with Stella storyline we can see improvements. If you havent watched I think its time you did so that you can justify your views. Last edited by Me! : 16-03-2007 at 14:24. |

I don't think they should bring back soap characters but create new characters which will make it unmissable... other there is no progression of the show and it would just be living in the pass. You can't keep bringing back old character just to make a programme

Exactly and that is what EastEnders has done. Its made itself a new cast for the next generation. If people are not prepaired to get to know them thats their loss. Infact I think EastEnders has the best female cast in soap. Denise, Shirley, Jane, Tanya, May, Stella & Honey are all different but great characters in their own right. A few years ago EastEnders only had about 2 characters in the 30's age range now they have about 14. Last edited by I ♥ Brodie : 16-03-2007 at 14:30. |

I did try to watch it but just can't get into it...not the characters nor the storylines....just reached the point where I really don't give a damn if I miss an episode as the storylines do not interest me whatsoever.......and stop nitpicking, ok it's 7:30 not 7pm.
Look this is how I feel about EE now & no one can tell me otherwise. Some of you like it, fine, but I don't & I wish I can see some of the old characters back starting with......David Wicks (Michael French) & even Nigel, Gita, Sanjay, & so forth & so on!!! Btw the only character I like these days is Ben!

You like Ben.
That says it all. Your enetitled to your opinion indeed i just disagree and think thats the problem with soaps-they rely on older generations and dont build up their younger characters for the future- EE has a great foundation of characters to replace legends like Dot, Pauline, Ian etc...we dont need oldies back-look at Den Watts. His return was nothing short of a disaster. I agree though a return-as discussed in many threads recently-of David and/or Simon wicks would be super! |

I like the Ben character, creepy little actor in a funny way....soooo what's your problem??? You obviously don't like him & I do so it's like EE, you like it & I don't...that's life eh! At least we agree on Michael French i mean David Wicks. |

rofl fair enough we could go round in circles with who we all like and dont. For the record I like ben too. Though i would wish he would stop smirking before and after he delivers some of his lines. Slightly annoying

hes ok yes and he is only 10 so I know he can only improve but its a risk giving a big storyline to him-i hope he can carry it off as if he can it will be one of the best i think! |

All the "great" characters had to start someone and only this year have there been a whole bunch of new characters: Denise,Chelsea,Squiggle,Shirley,Stella,May,Rob,Jay,Tania,Max,Abi,Lauren etc.
Give them time to settle in and make friendships. |

I'd love to see Mel Owen back for a bit, and if Courtney (minus Grant) came to stay with Peggy fopr the summer it would open the door for character such as Terry, Louise, Simon, etc to come and visit.
