Corrie ~ Friday 16 March
Rita's Kabin
16-03-2007
Friday 16 March 7.30 - 8pm ITV1

Deirdre's (Anne Kirkbride) decided that she can't just ignore her misgivings about Tracy (Kate Ford) and takes matters into her own hands by asking Gail (Helen Worth) about David's (Jack P Shepherd) supposed "nightmares". When Gail reveals that he doesn't seem at all affected by the impending trial, Deirdre's perturbed. Her fears only grow when Steve (Simon Gregson) challenges Tracy's claim that she rowed with Charlie because he wouldn't let her leave, when he reveals to Deirdre that Stubbs had bragged that he was about to throw her out on the day of the murder. Tracy is furious that Deirdre's been snooping around and Deirdre's shocked when she's viciously berated by her daughter. Tracy's outburst only serves to heighten Deirdre's distrust of her. Will she continue to support her
daughter?

Meanwhile, Paul's (Sean Gallagher) arrived home and Carla's (Alison King) relieved that he's safe but wants answers. She assures her husband that his secret's safe and makes him promise not to keep anything from her again. Later in the pub, the Connors make a concerted effort to play down Paul's disappearance to Michelle (Kym Ryder), but can Carla be trusted to keep Paul's secret?

Elsewhere, Claire (Julia Haworth) and Casey (Zoe Henry) seem to be growing closer, and Violet (Jenny Platt) receives good news from the hospital when she's told that there's still a chance that she can conceive!

Also, Leanne (Jane Danson) continues to flash her cash and brag about the perks of her highly paid job, does it all seem too good to be true?

This episode is written by David Lane, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Pip Short.

Corrie (and Emmerdale) are both going to get a big ratings hit tonight, with BBC1 showing Comic Relief: The Big One.

I'm gonna stick with the soaps tonight!

And considering they've been down on ratings lately it'll make matters even worse!

Good episode.

Best stuff was from Deidre and placing all the pieces together in the jigsaw-her and Gail's scenes were good-liked Gail giving Deidre the saucer

Liked Claire/Casey's scenes-looks like a potential phsycho-should be fantastic

Leanne/Connor stuff was nothing special.

Overall...6/10

A good ********* free episode

Toxic is nearly as nasty as the lovely Claire is nice.

Janice appears suspicious of Leanne.

I always enjoy the Sean/ Violent scenes

A slightly variable episode tonight.

Deirdre got most of the good scenes, in continuing Miss Marple mode as she started to piece together the extent of Tract's lies. Loved the look on her face as Gail told her that she had to wake David up & that he'd sleep the clock round if she let him. Steve's comments about Charlie were also good, especially as he assumed that it was Charlie being contradictory rather than Toxic who was lying.

It was nice to finally see Casey. Her & Claire have quite similar voices. What's the betting that she's going to snatch Josh or Freddie at some point, once she's got more involved in Claire's life?

The opening scene with Paul & Carla was also good with good acting from both concerned. It was nice to see Carla showing a bit of emotion with the tears starting to form in her eyes. Not surprised at all that she covered up for Paul when Michelle asked how long he'd been back.

Leanne looked very nice when her & Janice got back from their lunch in Cheshire. Her comments about playing men at their own game have obviously started Janice thinking about things.

On the downside I thought most of Sean's stuff wasn't that great although I did like his comment that he & Vi could make up things about the neighbours & give them much more interesting lives than they deserved.

KF wasn't that bad tonight but that final scene with Deirdre was well below par & lacked the impact it should have had.

6 and a half out of 10.

Detective Deirdre was the best element of the episode for me. I also think that Peter and Maria work well together - there's a certain chemistry there.

I was disappointed to see the return of Paul. I find him to be a rubbish character - completely lacking in charisma, charm or interest. Yawn.

Nice summary Rita's Kabin. Deirdre's suspicions about Toxic are growing by the hour - and Tracey knows it. It seems to be all slipping away from her - note how David refused to do her bidding i.e. to go and find out what the two mums were talking about.

She should get her own crime series.

She doesn't deserve that nickname, surely!

Noticed that too. Must be the rusty pipes in the street! It's about time they had some road works down there... Is this the only street in Britain that never gets dug up?

Can I ask -- were we not speculating on here about Casey possibly turning out to be the mother of Holly, which would lead on to the revelation that
Spoiler
Charlie is actually the father?
The actress who played her wasn't the same girl as the one who left the baby with Eileen, so I assume that theory's been totally blown out of the water now?
Me!

i mentioned that possibility a few weeks back-
indeed the main problem being the actress who played 'emma' hollys mother is not the same actress who plays casey.

but a change of actress is always possible-but i doubt it now myself....

it would tie the stoires in well though-claire and tracey (charlie) and claire and eileen. the stories interconnect nicely so that casey/emma would find out who charlie really was from claire and then claire would lead casey/emma to eileen-no doubt if this all happened eileen/claire would have a major row.....

Danny always had nick names for the girls,
Janice was Mouth
Kelly was Legs
Fizz was Fuzz
Sean was Mincemeat.
I can't remember any more.

I miss Danny too, he made me laugh.

It was never gonna be what happened. They're two totally different women. Hasn't Casey lost a husband and kids, or something? That's why seeing a baby upsets her and why she (possibly) takes off with Freddy in the future. And she looks older than Emma from what I can remember. Emma just had a one night stand with someone in a club, I doubt she had a husband and kids at home already.

If she was Emma all she had to do was go and get Holly back! Emma left Holly with 'her Dad' cos she said she couldn't cope with her on her own (touch of post natal depression probably) and she was seen crying at the end of the street after she dropped her off so she clearly didn't want to do it.

No, Emma turns up when the trial starts, after seeing Charlie's pic in the paper and no doubt getting a shock to discover this is the man who got her pregnant telling her his name was Jason. So she's left her baby with a household of people she never set eyes on in her life - not even for a night in a club and a one night stand! No wonder she wants her back!
