I was really disappointed with the coverage and the fact that it was crammed inbetween all the other comic relief stuff. I feel really flat now after watching it. All the build up over the last 2 weeks, especially last nights show, and then it ended up just a really rushed non-entity.

When they announced the winner, no sooner had they done that then they were cut off and on to another serious film on Africa. Why didnt they show Tara singing again, or have a chat to her or at least something.

A real anti-climax and a great shame after 2 weeks entertainment.

Lets hope we see Tara on lots of future TV programmes. We can't get enough of her.

Its what happened last year. If you saw the final last year, you were probably just relieved that there was equal time for voting for the finalists this year. Last year, Edith sang first and they stopped the votes as soon as Kim had finished singing second Bearing in mind Tara was second on that could have been disasterous

So pleased at least that it was fair this year, however I agree it is disappointing after watching the show solidly for two weeks, for it to be finished so quickly, and without a word from the winner and runner up.

I agree with the sentiments above and really its my only complaint about the whole series.

That's now the third time that it has fizzled out just like a damp squib.

well they must've had a strict time slot since they have to cram everything into one night, but I get what you mean. It's like there is no real closure to it.

They should do the final the night before and then let the winner perform on Comic Relief show on the Friday.

"closure" I think is what most people are missing. We know the result but its like "is that it?"

How many reality shows are there? Maybe Celebrity BB? Maybe Celebrity Master Chef? Or maybe she'll take over from Claudia and do the next Celebrity Fame Academy.

Yes the final the night before would be a great idea! Or even if the main final show was the night before with the result on Comic Relief night-i missed the performances tonight as I got lost in the whole schedules!

It was very disapointing that it ended so quickly without a word from tara or even a final performance, or highlights, best bits etc...

PLUS-

This years competition didnt make as much money as last years-did Paddy say this years made £780,000? Last year they made £1.3million- a slight difference!

But even though it was a poor climax that cant be blamed on the contestants who were superb throughout the series-its the fault of the tv excs. I really hope that comic relief does fame academy is back next year-or even the real fame academy!

It was an anti-climax as it is each year.

I think it would be better to have the semi-final on Comic Relief night and the Final the night after.

Plus its another chance to get more money for Comic Relief too

Jade is bloody horrible, Chantelle is just ignorant with a vacant smile who celebrates empty ambition, but Tara comes across as having more real charisma and charm, and just generally has more positive redeeming features as a person.
I can like Tara.

Looks as if they responded to the fact that it was crammed in last year by downplaying it and giving it less time so they could get on with their main show. Only two finalists, one singing show, one song, no new songs, no last lesson with both coaches, no awards ceremony, students not seen again all night. Looks like going through the motions to me.

Indeed the whole series looked as if they didn't want to make it a big success - scheduled against soaps with plenty of other slots available, results shows all over the place, no real story other than going with the public's wierd votes,, no effort to help the comics stay,. Makes you think they didn't want 8 million watching in case it made the case again for normal FA, just let Richard attack people to get some vote money and didin't worry too much about whether it was making money as they had The Aprentice show too this year and that had made a million.

What a let down the fa final was!

Why cant the final be the day before red nose day also it would be much better if the final of fa was at the academy rether than tv centre.

The celebrity big brother final in 2001 in aid of comic relief was also a let down in the same way as fa was tonight.

I cant see a return of fa in 2009 but thats down to the bbc for putting it up against the soaps etc.

So from that I gather you think that it was wrong not to try and sway the public vote, or even to fix it (against the obvious voting) so that the comics stayed longer?

Another idea would be to have the final in the Academy earlier on Red Nose Day.

Then during the Comic Relief programme show the two finalists' recorded performances, then have a group of the funniest students perform a comedy version of a suitable song live on the CR stage, and then announce the result of the competition.

Much better idea. I agree with everyone else that it's a real anti-climax to cram the "final" into a tiny little slot amongst everything else, and it's unfair on the contestants after all their hard work.

They could do the final on the Thursday and then announce the winner on the main show - it was such a rubbish end to the series AGAIN!

I agree with all above - unfair anti clmax to the fans/viewers as well as the 2 performers. There were still over 4 hours coverage left in the programme they could easily have slotted in a fun spot of chatting with the 2 girls to see how they felt after the announcement. Better still the final the night before and winner performing on the Big One the following night would have been perfect finish. I like Ricky Gervais normally but the amount of time slotted to that pathetic so called comedy sketch of his was ridiculous - couldnt see the point of that at all. let's hope next time around, if there is one, they listen to the viewers and give FA a better time slot and coverage. So happy with the outcome.

PS: Did anybody else notice Tara saw her name on the card Paddy pulled out of envelope before he announced and knew - she was telling Carry David and Jeremy. That was funny.

I don't get it.
Because they had comedy versions of other shows that looked like complete sequences. But they let Fame Academy get lost in an incoherent mess...YET AGAIN.

They even had a one-off special edition of Top Gear that lasted for the length of a normal show.
So why couldn't they afford the same privilige to Fame Academy which was a series that needed a finale for it to come to a conclusion?
Why favour a one-off edition of Top Gear at the expense of Fame Academy?
The ratings were high all night so surely they could have generated a lot more money if they gave Fame Academy a proper show like they did Top Gear.
I really don't get it.

No, it was only 30 or 35 mins, the normal show is 60 mins. But importantly, it was, as you say, a proper (complete) show.

I was so let down by this years final, last year if i remember rightly edith and kim sang two songs, (new one and best of). It was also a normal show at the academy and not at tv centre! a complete shambles, two weeks of build up for nothing. Although glad tara won out of the two!

They spent a lot of time and effort on Ade last year to help him look funny enough to stay - just look at his special effects, make up, song choices. This time they were refused props, given duller songs or songs they were not ready for and put on early when no one was voting for who went early. Richard alone ensured we ended up with no comics in the last 6 by bizarrely keeping Zoe over Mel and Tim. In that case, he actively moved against keeping the comics in.

The public voting had no pattern other than that anyone who went on early would be in trouble so it would hardly have been wrong to fix who stayed even more by making sure all the comics didn't go on early. When they did want to make sure people went (Angellica, Zoe, Fred,Colin, Ray) they had no qualms about sticking them on early. It just looks to me as if they decided they didn't need comedians and just needed to keep Shaun and Ttricia for some singing and Tara for entertainment. its satisficing rather than maximising what they had and maximising their audience.
