I didn't know it would be 50 in 2010 or it's nearly as old as ITV. Thanks for that info.

I don't actually watch in on a regular basis but it would be wierd if it weren't there.

Its hard to imagine any of the current soaps being axed - the TV channels rely on them so heavily. It would have to be a completely changed atmosphere if the soaps were ever axed - things would be very different in the world of TV.

Imagine the outcry if it was axed. Petitions to No 10, debates in Parliament and people threatening not to buy their TV licences, even though they obviosuly won't grasp that it is commercial TV and that isn't covered by it !

ITV is 5 years older than Corrie.

Its amazing because it was only scheduled to run a few episodes at the beginning. Its a good thing it has endured, its hard to see where ITV would be without it and also Emmerdale. The two shows have seventy plus years of history between them and are still the rock which binds the ITV schedule together.

the BBC couldnt care less about EE, coz they have the money and Power to start another Big soap

I very much doubt that.

Why do you think that? EastEnders is one of it's best known programs and still popular with millions of viewers even though it doesn't get the ratings it once had.
