does anyone think its time for a new soap?
maybe on bbc2 as thats the only channel with none
we lost brookside and family affairs(didn't like fa)
so why haven't they replaced them with new shows?

Not with so many episodes of the ones on now, I'm struggling to find time to watch them all as it is!

A return of Family Affairs or Brookside is welcome though

What does that achieve? They all need to be reduced.

I'd be happy if all soaps went back down to 3 episodes a week.

I know it's completely alien to ITV, but they could try something new. The stations, in particular ITV, rely waaay too heavily on their soaps.

When I say new, I mean new. Not another celebrity reality show.

Yeah latest one is Doctors as far as I know.

Because it just wouldn't, we've seen it all before.. there's nothing that would come as a shock to us anymore. It'd just rehash old plots

No, the last new soap was Night and Day. It ran from 2001-2003.

You could even say the return of Crossroads in 2002 was the last new soap, seeing as it was a (nearly) all-new cast, god love Kathy Staff

i kinda see what your saying but use doctors as an example
a show that started in 2000 and is shown mon-fri at 205pm and gets around 2million per episode
it worked for them why can't it for anew show

Despite gaining a cult audience, it failed in the ratings.

Have you tried watching Hollyoaks recently? It's currently the best soap out there.

yes twice lastweek and i can't stand it (funny enough i enjoy more then corrie)its weird i wouldn't class it as a soap its they way they do things txts on screen
screen splits into 3/4 pictures and the start of most eps they seem todo the same thing like talking on the phone or something like that

How about new soap based on the lives of British expats living somewhere warm and sunny, say like Spain?

How does that sound?
