Could it be that if anyone new raises their head above the parapets they don't get discussion, just the basis of their views mocked and rubbished?

This is how nearly every Who thread ends up, it's a pretty sad state of affairs to be honest.

It does cut both ways BG, but there is a tendency in the Who threads to bait the fans that like the show, warts and all.
If someone says they like an RTD script undoubtedly the next post will be along the lines of 'If you like farting aliens that's up to you' Of course it would be a dull place if we all thought the same but it is becoming an even duller place having FMs genuine views of the show, whilst not insulting other FMs in their posts, to be constantly looked down upon by a small group that constantly hijack and kill off any thread. A bit of a harsh post I know but it does seem that this what is happening I'm afraid. I'm avoiding any baiting threads from now on, more than happy to share thoughts on the show but getting into and reading slanging matches is wearing a little thin

If they choose to see it that way then that is regrettable but sometimes people have their own agenda in seeing and hearing what they want to. Last edited by Black Guardian : 21-03-2007 at 11:23. |

But here's what I've noticed myself and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. There is no middle ground. If you say something bad about the series then you are set upon. That's how some threads end up in one or two posters bitching between themselves. I can only speak for myself here but I rarely go on threads with the aim of derailing them or getting involved in verbal fighting. The vast majority of Doctor Who threads I just don't post in because I've nothing to add. I certainly don't wander into a thread, see a positive comment and go out of my way to rubbish it. There's a thread around at the moment regarding expectations for the new series and I made negative comments (something like "I've very low expectations because of Season 2's disappointment") yet that kind of comment is likely to get you branded in this forum. Hardly fair is it, is it any wonder I end up fighting back? You might be slightly surprised to find out that I actually do like some of the new Doctor Who. In this instance, I got involved because Thete had made a comment regarding remarks that I'd made in a post sometime ago (actually he was probably talking about a different poster but it was relevant to comments I made too) and felt I needed to reply to that. |

Davies will not be writing Doctor Who forever, of course, and that is a major headache for the BBC.
Yeah Right! BBC-"He's gone! Let the party begin!" RTD- "I don't need them" RTD ends up jobless living on the streets of cardiff untill the bbc re-employ him- but only to make tea for the head office
