Yawn (and yob voting)

The final result was totally predictable (yawn), the winner yet another sportsman that the beer swilling yobs vote for - what really disgusted me here though was that whilst Kyran did put in some very good performances along the way (and could have been justified on that basis), he was far from a worthy winner on the night. Clare meanwhile raised her game immensely. Kyran's Bolero was downright wooden proving once and for all that he might be a great skater but he can't bloody dance (unless it's body popping goofball routines) - Duncan presents far better and it was a shame he didn't get a go at Bolero (why they have to do it this way is beyond me rather than just let all three do all three) though I guess the half-slip-drop lift blew it for him. Overall, I think these shows are good entertainment but it's getting way too predictable (is there a rugby/cricket/football player, if so don't bother with the final).

I agree. Kyran did a very clumsy Bolero and flying routine. He was not his best on the night at all.

He didn't even attempt to lift Melanie at all during the competition, Duncan seemed more competent at the lifts. But by far the best was Lee Sharpe, he should have been in the final four.

How many 'beer swilling yobs' do you think watch an ice dancing show?

Perhaps the reason why the top class sportsmen and women tend to do well is because they are generally extremely competative and are used to training very hard for long hours.

I think Kyran was clearly the best skater in the series and could also entertain. Clare's routines were pretty enough but too much reliance on lifts (there are other ways of bringing 'wow' factor but they rarely went there) and far too many times her stuff seemed like a technical exercise rather than a performance.

Plenty when one of their sports heroes is on (doh!) and this was Dancing on Ice and that means dancing too not just skating. I agree K was best at skating but his presentation was lousy (worth about fifth).

I don't watch DOI but I agree that sportspeople are used to training, discipline and are usually focused and fit, so that's why they may do well, not because of beer drinking yobs. Not all people who like sports and sportspeople come nto that category.

What a pile of rubbish. Lee Sharpe was also a sportsman, a footballer for that matter and he went out. Football is this country is more popular than rugby, so surely Lee Sharpe would have won it if your mixed up views were correct?

Over on Just the Two of us Mark Butcher, another cricketer lost - not enough "beer swilling yobs" voting on that show either?

If you are going to come up with an argument at least take the time to think it through first.

Funny, cos that often puts people off. I remember when Denise Lewis was on SCD up against Jill Halfpenny, Jill got the popular vote for being sweet and saying "It's just great fun to be here, I'm really enjoying myself," while Denise was very competitive and made it clear that she wanted to win, she didn't like losing. That focus and drive and competitive spirit is what made Denise such a success at sport but on SCD I think it went against her in the end.
