Rita's Kabin
18-03-2007
Sunday 18 March 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM

The neighbours are out in force as they watch the new arrivals pour into No.6. Finally arriving on the street en mass Jerry (Michael Starke), Jodie (Samantha Seager), Darryl (Jonathan Dixon), Mel (Emma Edmondson), Kayleigh (Jessica Barden) and Grandad Morton (Rodney Litchfield) bring with them van loads of the latest gadgets and plenty of noise to boot.

But by evening their noise levels are already upsetting the neighbours and Gail decides it's time she had a word. Ever the jovial charmer Jerry invites her in to meet his clan but will they get the reception they were hoping for?

Tracy's (Kate Ford) had enough of Deirdre's (Anne Kirkbride) constant questioning but when she reveals she's only using Claire (Julia Haworth) as a friend until the trial is over Deirdre's suspicions are further aroused. Paying Claire a visit Deirdre wants to know if she ever actually saw Charlie hit Tracy. Is Deirdre onto her daughter's lies?

After persuading Leanne (Jane Danson) to put in a good word for her with Liam (Rob James-Collier), Janice (Vicky Entwistle) is stunned when he agrees to giveher her job back at the factory. But unaware of his change of heart Leanne works her best charm offensive on a smug Liam, who conveniently forgets to tell her he's already given Janice another chance.

Elsewhere the street's mums celebrate Mother's Day and Paul (Sean Gallagher) tries to buy Ryan (Ben Thompson) off with a flash present after his extreme reaction to his joyriding.

This episode is written by Julie Jones, produced by Steve Frost and directed by Pip Short.

The Jam again, what's with all the Jam references lately? Two in Corrie and one in EE in the last week or so.

Oooh I hate newcomers... I know we'll get used to them, but they just jar in amongst all the familiar faces. Apart from Sinbad and his tum - the return of old friends

Battersby's revisited - I remember all this in 1997, the loud music etc

Well I for one love them already however not so sure about the son or the grandad. I think they would have worked better if it had just been the 3 daughters and the father.

At least they explained where everyone was going to be sleeping, that will save a few threads.

I was a bit concerned that a 50 plus man said he would share a bed with his teenage son.

Very weird.

The Corrie writers have stooped so low as to praise their actors in episodes.

A very very good episode i thought.

Some very funny moments.

Platt's were excellent-GO GAIL GO GAIL!!! Hilarious!

The new family: Jerry is excellent but the kids aren't too good personally, though they may grow on me. Where is Grandad staying though??

Claire saying Tracy is a great actress lol she must be kidding?!

Liked pub scenes-nothing big but brought many characters together.

On the whole the episode felt very like every episode should be-bringing characters together-none of this murdering my boyfriend stuff.

Overall...8/10
