No, I was thinking that maybe, in the long term, the plan is for Jodie to move in there - making the house less cramped

I do not really like the Mortons - there seem to be too many of them and I cannot distinguish between Kayleigh and the other girl at all. Jodie grated on me Re: Jason and the grandad looks like some kind of animated corpse. The dad is OK. As a rule, I do not think introducing big families all at once works.

Steve gets the line of the night again, which went something like:

"This is Dev, 7 Shops, a girl in every shop, and a baby with each one"

Very weird.
He probably knew that the son would opt for the couch. Problems over the bedrooms then solved. It's too early for me to make my mind up yet, but they don't seem as bad as what I thought they would be. I wonder if they'll pair the father off with any of the street's female characters?

The Royal is filmed about a year before it gets on screen.

A so-so episode tonight.

Julia Haworth was on fine form as Claire. Liked her enthusiasm about reading Jane Eyre & her welcoming Jerry to the Street. How she managed to keep a straight face when she said that Tracy must be a brilliant actress, covering up Charlie's abuse is a mystery.

Gail also got some good stuff. Liked the look on her face as Jerry said that she was a single mother & he was a single father. She couldn't get out of the house fast enough! It was obvious that the music would start again after she'd got back home & was telling David & Donk all about the "Gail approach" to solving problems.

There was a nice touch earlier on when Ken made his "sword of Damocles" reference which is completely appropriate for an ex teacher of literature to make. Tracy also got some good stuff about Claire. I liked the reference to the fact that Claire could be Deirdre love-child seeing as how they used to look quite similar when she used to wear glasses. The stuff about Claire being her best mate until the trial was over was also good &, for once, KF didn't mangle it up too much.

I also liked the flirting between Liam & Leanne, particularly his lines about him being a sex god & his assertion that she had been eyeing up his backside. Leanne's reply that he should stay at home on a date & look at himself in the mirror was a lit predictable but was well delivered by the dependable Jane Danson. Liam's comments about golf clothes ("anything so long as it's pale pink or pale yellow") were also vaguely amusing.

The episode sagged a little for me when the Mortons were on screen. They will obviously take some time to "bed in" properly but perhaps introducing the remaining four (Dad & the other three kids) in one episode was a little too much. We've obviously already met Jodie & Wilf (Grandad) but I wonder whether perhaps it may not have been better to phase them in slowly rather than having the others all turn up together. As for the music we've already been there 10 years ago with the Battersbys.

7 out of 10.

Was Sinbad trying to mask his Liverpool accent with a generic northern accent, or is my memory of him having a Liverpool accent in Brookie just totally wrong?

Well to be honest, one of the worst episodes I've seen in recent times. So much so I wasn't really concentrating on the episode tonight which is very rare when it comes to Coronation Street.

I think the reason I wasn't concentrating was because of this new Morton family. I never liked the woman or the old bloke when they kept making appearances and now that they're all there with a bunch of dull family members it makes it even worse.

It didn't seem like Coronation Street tonight. In fact I'm not even going to give it a rating because there's no point.

I hope the Mortons aren't on screen constantly. I didn't mind the Connors when they first arrived but I just can't take to these Mortons.

I'm disappointed

Jerry is definitly the most likeable and i think if he and gail get it on it will be good! Not to watch though!

Dont like the son. Not as much personality as David and definitly not as cheeky looking!

Jodie i did like. Now she looks wrong calling Jerry dad. Seriously she looks to old!!

As for th other kids-well the sisters ive no real opinion on as they were not very active tonight-didnt sound best of actors but first show I know that...

Grandad. OH DEAR. Anyone got Archies number-i hope we might need him soon...
