Apparently, T.A.T.U. are representing Russia in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

That should be a laugh.

I liked the TATU song, has some interesting musical moments.

Firstly the synth solo. Great hook, sounds almost like a classical music construct.

Secondly towards the end of the song, the girl sings a line unaccompanied, then she sings another line with just the drums, following the metre of the lyric. Great drum sound, reminiscent of John Bonham.

Overall, as someone who has almost given up on the singles charts, it was a welcome relief from the usual stuff.

I also liked the ketchup song..(yes..I know I know I know!!!, but imo it was a well constructed song, and NOONE can karioke it!!! ).

In fact I actuall ythink the 2nd T.A.T.U. single 'Not Gonna Get Us' is even better than the first single and will hopefully also chart at #1.

Yep, just seena preview show on Turkish Tv as by chance is was channel flicking

I think thier music is good.. catchy Although my Russian friend thinks they are bad. She says they are a band for young teens.

I can't see the EBU allowing them to dress as young school girls??
I hope it will give them some positive publicity... Just drop the school girl look.

Are they gonna sing "Not Gonna Get Us" on eurovision. That be cool, or they might even do it in Russian "Nas Ne Degoniat". Yeah. Theres even talks that they will bring it home for Mother Russia.

What about us Brits! Come on, lets hopelessly build up our hopes just until the French go "Great Britain, Nil Pra".

Or you can support the Russians.

Anyway, who is doing the Eurovision for us anyway? Is the song any good?

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that only unsigned bands could enter for eurovision, and I believe that TATU have an album out in the UK so they must be signed yeah??

Nope.

In the tabloids yesterday, it said tatu were gonna do whatever it takes to break eurovision rules!
Which is interesting, as another rumour suggested that the EBU were trying to ban them from the contest after being put under pressure from other contestants worried that Tatu would win by a virtual walkover.

Nevertheless, it's good to have a bit of controversy in the Eurovision, as it's been lacking since the antics of Guildo and Dana International in 1998.

No it has to be amateur song writers... Which is why I'm confused about Not Gonna Get Us as its been commerically released all over the world, long before Eurovision 2003 started rolling !!

Well, the UK had Katrina and the Waives in 1997, and they were a signed group, wernt they?

I also think that it is correct about the amateur song writer bit.

As Far as I know, the EBU have no rules on that at all, anyone can enter with any song. It is up to the individual countries to make decisions like that, for example, many countries say that the writer has to be from the country that they want their song to represent. Other countries don't do this however.

tATu are singing the song "ne ver ne bojsia" in this years contest.

There ARE general rules, but that is not one of them... What is true though, is that the song must be previously un-released. In fact, it mustn't have been played at all previous to the event.

Interesting regarding TATU - they have posed a question to the EBU whether it would be ok to appear naked on stage. They got a very clear no... And a warning that they would be disqualified if they tried it anyway.

All roads doesn't lead to Rome - a hell'ov'alot of'em leads to fame, though...

I understand what you are saying here and i am not trying to start anty arguements, BUT, in the case of the UK's entry -- Geminie (sp??) i think this year -- they had to " audition" on Song for Europe didn't they, so surely we have heard the song??? Although, okay, so it's not been released!

Have i got all this wrong???

It must be right cos I've got the official Eurovision CD which came out on Monday and it has all 26 entries on - I've got them all, and that happens every year.

I think the rule is that it must be specifically for Eurovision and clearly so, rather than just a hit that is then shopved in.
