Why Oh Why????

Having read through a few of the comments on this forum and incidentally on many other different forums as well (the ones where the result is decided by phone voting) - the same old complaints appear time and time again.

Why oh why is it always the fault of the 'phone system the voting system etc etc when someones favourite doesn't win I'll dare bet if Clare had won, then the Clare supporters wouldn't be bleating about the 'phones being faulty etc.

Do you really think after all the chaos regarding "phone ins" that the TV people would be as stupid as to fix the votes

All my anti-voting anti-phone messages have been based on unfairness and not on a favourite losing. I didn't mind who won out of C and K. I had a preference for K throughout the series but did think C skated better on finals night.

My annoyance is nothing to do with who won and all about how they won. To reset a vote count and give, perhaps, 20 minutes to vote for a winner after weeks and weeks of hard work and telephone votes is plain unfair. To the skaters and to the paying public.

I reflect my annoyance by not playing into their hands and I don't vote. However, I still remain frustrated for those of you who do like to vote - more especially the youngsters who do not realise what a set up the varying formats are.

I don't vote for these kinda things, waste of time imo but I still like to watch the celebs?! learn new skills. I also like the back stage goss and costumes they have. Just a bit of entertainment, early Sat eve, when I am not working.

its not a fix its a question of how do you give every contestant reasonably equal time for their fans to vote - which is very difficult when you have short shows. DOI is very good at this usually - they open all lines when everyone has danced and keep them open for the next ITV show so they people have plenty of time. The final vote though abandoned the method they usually have for those good reasons.

There are also the technical questions - people will always ask whats going on when they get an engaged tone when they try to vote. Its a sensible question because when I asked the BBC about one show where it was impossible to get through at all for someone who performed late I got the reply back that this would happen if the person had too many calls. As the person concerned was very popular previously but recorded the lowest vote that night its a bit worrying when people tell you that they could actually have been the most popular but were too popular for their calls to register. Odd things do happen, so people, being people, will wonder about it.

Was that for SCD or for something else? Because that doesn't tally with this reply someone else had for SCD. According to that, an engaged tone indicates that the overall number of votes is high, not necessarily the number of votes for the contestant you are ringing for. I would have assumed the BBC used that system for all their phone-ins. Anything else would be too prone to problems.

I did think resetting the vote count was unfair- such a short time for people to vote for the winner. And I wanted Kyran to win, so I'm not saying that out of sour grapes!
