1 hour long corrie

4 times per week. On another thread sombody said it would not be possible to make 4 x 1 hour episodes each week. However it is and indeed has been done before!

I recall one christmas corrie had eight yes 8 episodes in the very week. That is the same as 4 x 1 hours episodes.

Furthermore all US soaps are on for an hour 5 days a week, so we know it can be done.

I would like to see ITV think about this. One hour actually runs for just 44 mins when you take out the ads and stuff.

It can also keep its same days and slots:

MONDAYS = 1 epsidoe, half hour
WED' = 1 episdoe, one hour
FRI = 1 episdoe, half hour
SUNDAY = 1 episdoe, one hour

I don't think *any* soap needs to be on for more than it is now. Have you seen ratings for the US soaps? They are not as impressive as here considering they are much more populated than we are.

It's also a huge strain on budget and the staff. Why should they have to work more than they are now? It's a tough job.

Also, sorry to break it to you, one hour episodes are fine, in moderation. No one wants to waste most of their time a week watching 1 hour episodes constantly.

Christmas is a special time of year when most people are spending time at home - so people can watch tv properly. People work/go to school so all that work and effort wont be rewarded any more than it is now.

If they upped the episode count all that would happen is that the endlessly repetitive stories would turnaround that much more quickly.

So is what you are suggesting just an extra half hour a week? If so, what's the point in that?

It's fine the way it is, in fact it would be better to have less and then they might not have to include some of the ridiculous story lines that they have now just to keep us viewing.

Why would you want am increase? You don't think they're on enough as it is?

If you did put it where you said, then you would have to move other programmes, such as dramas. Many people would not be happy about this.

Why do we need even more.

It would be very difficult for the actors.

Just because the USA have it - doesn't mean we need it.

At Christmas - that was once, in one week! It was not all year round.

Is that enough reasons against 4x 1 hour?
