Websters, ok. The rest, no!

I look forward to the factory scenes. Fiz, Hayley, Janice, Kelly & Sean are a fab group.

and really, have you ever seen Ashley in the factory?

What I'd do is have Les, Cilla & Chesney move to Ibiza - being the tacky couple they are.
Kirky would move out of number 5 and in with Fiz, but living with each other put's a strain on the relationship, and he moves away to live with his parents.

Leanne runs up debts and goes bankrupt, leaving the house to be reposessed and Jamie to get the heave-ho.

While Jamie moves back down to London, Todd moves back up from London when he finshes university.
He is shocked to be greeted on Coronation Street by his ex Karl, who is now Sonny's latest boyfriend.

Betty's grandson Pete Clegg turns up when he get's a job at the salon. When Pete's girlfriend Isabel introduces her grandfather Frank Turpin (no relation), a romance begins. They marry and Frank rents Number 7 for the couple.

Jerry Morton and Gail Platt start seeing each other, but Eileen also takes an interest in the new neighbour.

Meanwhile, Adam and Joanne are back on. Events take a turn for the worse however when a drunk Adam drives in to the Kabin. While Norris is complaining of a few cuts and bruises, Joanne lies dead in the passenger seat.

As a result, Adam Barlow is jailed for drink-driving.

- Sarah Platt, Kelly Crabtree and Joanne Jackson die in a freak accident
- I'd like to see more storylines involving Violet and Maria. Maria is a great character who needs a decent storyline and with Violet, they seem to be stuck in a rut with her. When she first arrived, she had a feisty side but now she is far too sensible, they don't know what to do with her .
- Let Jason get together with Maria or Violet and let him and Eileen keep Holly
- Todd returns with Karl
- Sean leaves the Street with disgrace with no friends
- Gail and Jerry Morton get together
- Danny returns, married to Linda Baldwin and they both run Underworld. Liam and Paul don't have the same "spark" with the factory girls like Danny did

Les, Cilla & Chesney move away when Cilla discovers her cancer has returned - they move abroad to enjoy their final days in the sun...Les and Ches then stay out there, Kirk joins them after spitting from Fiz

Builder Chris Hewitt (44) moves into No.5 with his wife Ruth their 16 year old daughter Lucy and Chris' Mother ex Rovers barmaid Concepta.
Chris would be old school Corrie man - very much like his Father Harry and Len Fairclough.
Ruth would be the opposite of many Corrie women - shy, timid, scared of Chris who expects his tea on the table.
Lucy is a very Joss Stone type hippy chick who strikes up a friendship with Rosie Webster - that starts unfounded rumours about them being lesbians - which in turn makes Sally panic and starts encouraging Rosie to date loads of boys and to forget about her schoolwork.
Concepta has just lost her 2nd 'husband' Bob...they never married much to the annoyance of Chris - so he insisted she move in with them to protect her after Bob's children conned her out of the house and all their money. Doreen Keogh is fab as Mary in Royle Family - would love her to return as she has friends in the Street - Ken, Emily, Betty

The return of Debbie Webster who walked out on her boyfriend after he cheated on her - she punched him and left - hurt by many failed relationships over the years she returns to Kevin and his family to rebuild her life and maybe even get married and have kids herself.

After the death of Paul Connor - Carla Connor leaves too leaving Liam looking for a new partner who arrives in the form of one Angie Freeman who runs her own business Freeman Fabric down South. Angie spotted the chance to buy into the place where she started out and grabs it - having hunky Liam to gaze at doesn't bother her too much. She just makes sure she doesn't keep red wine in her office to keep mixing business with pleasure.
Angie is harder on the factory women than either Paul or Danny was - she's had to be tough to survive - so out goes Sean, Joanne, and Kelly - who we never see again.

Sean lies and deceives his friends once too often and is shunned by the street.
Kelly cannot handle having Becky in the factory - after Angie takes a shine to her so she leaves
Joanne and Adam drive on into the sunset - they don't deserve a big or memorable exit.

A BIG BIG storyline for Hayley - Julie Hesmondhalgh deserves another chance to shine...she starts her own halfway home and runs it with the help of Gail who uses her many bad experiences to help others.

Jack and Vera win the lottery and retire in Australia - they pay for Tyrone and Molly to come too.

No.9 is bought by Emily's niece Freda who returns to be nearer her - she arrives with her husband and 2 children

Suzie Birchall turns up looking for forgiveness from Gail for trying to seduce Brian - Gail is prepared to forgive and forget until behind Suzie walks 23 year old Briony

I love the idea of an original returning, or a family member of an original.
Concepta doesn't know Betty does she? Concepta only made a few short visits since her 1964 departure and I'm sure none of them were in Betty's time.

I'd love Linda & Ivan Cheveski, Dennis Tanner or Billy Walker to make a return, maybe at the 50th anniversary.

Was Harry's death at Elsie's wedding the last time we see her...for some reason I thought she made a visit in the very early 70's to visit Lucille.
I think Elsie's death would be a good reason for a LOT of old faces to come out of the woodwork for the 50th. Emily would be in charge of contacting old faces (she's have a big Christmas card list I'm SURE)
I know picky fans will moan "oh but she died in the 80's during the Lives and Love of Else Tanner video" - it was a passing comment made by Betty I believe to Linda.
BUT as it was NEVER mentioned on the real Corrie - they can forget this little line and have a BIG get together/party after the funeral...celebrating the Street and one of it's biggest ever stars Miss Patricia Phoenix...I know some people will want a new storyline or some dull disaster but I and I'm sure MOST dedicated street fans will want a nostalgic wallowfest full of flashbacks and stories of the past...50 years is such a milestone.

PS I had to change Briony Hewitt's name to Lucy as the chance of not calling Suzie Birchalls and Brian Tilsley's love child Briony was too good to pass up

A bit depressing but I don't think Corrie has ever tackled the death of a child (apart from Shannon Tattersall and Susan Schofield in the 60's)....in this case Ryan Connor who will disappear for 3 weeks and then will be found dead - murdered by someone Emily has successfully campaigned to be released from jail after serving 32 years for the "accidental" death of a teenager when he was the same age. After Ed pleading for forgiveness about Ernest's death, Emily is convinced this man too has paid his debt to society and thinks he should be given a second chance at life.
Emily is shattered by the news of Ryans murder by the man she campaigned for and will withdraw into herself - giving up her church, hospital visits even leaving her house - Blanche lays into her and people avoid her in the street...the only one who stands by her is Freda, Norris and Rita. This will be a good showcase for both Kim Ryder and the always excellent Eileen Derbyshire.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Dennis, probably being a sentimental old thing, would want her to be buried in Weatherfield, as that place was her home for so many years.
Drawing up a rough list in my head now...so that's the Tanner's, Cheveski's, Hilda and Irma Ogden, Bet Lynch, Concepta Hewitt, Suzie Birchall, Billy Walker, Maggie Clegg, Mavis Wilton...

Firstly on Corronation Farm I'd introduce a (to the south east of Europe) place of worship. And have own-life terminating explosive related persons walking into the Rovers and creating 30 minutes of test card on ITV1 each night........And less television for idiots and those unable to accept anything new.

I'd get rid of Kelly, Joanne and all the Connors. Maybe in a factory fire. Michelle would have to go too, so she'd rush over there and be trapped in the fire, as would Ryan.

The Mortons would all go and live with their mother leaving just Sinbad (Jerry), Adam Barlow and Vernon would disappear to 'the big city' and never return. Sean would leave the street to seek his fortune in London and the entire Battersby clan would move away.

Roy and Hayley must stay, as must the Platts, the Barlows and Rita, Emily and Norris.

I'd get rid of
Sally Webster
Rosie Webster
Claire Peacock
All the Platts
Liz MacDonald
Janice Battersby
Leanne Battersby
Carla Connor
Vernon
Rita's new (old) mate

Tracy, Paul Connor and Adam Barlow (I think) are going anyway.

Bring back
Eric Gartside
Alec Gilroy
Eddie Yeats
Linda Baldwin
Hilda Ogden (I know she wouldn't though)
Karen MacDonald (probably likewise)

With all due respect....thank heavens you're not the Producer!

To bring back someone like Hilda after all these years would be a terrible mistake. I agree that she was a fabulous character in her day but what on earth would you do with her now? Best to remember her as a great character from yesteryear. Let's not forget the return of Bet debacle

As for your list of character that you'd axe. I like all those characters and wouldn't get rid of any of them.

In answer to the original question, if I were the Producer of Corrie I'd give myself a pat on the back as I think the show is on top form at the moment and has been for a while.

Hilda was just wishful thinking for Hilda as she was

I hate all those I'd axe, especially Sally and Claire. Wet weekends. Still, if all the characters disliked by anyone went there'd probably be no programme.

Sally is one of the best characters they've got...at least from when they evolved her into snobby/pushy mother Sally....granted before then all she did was cook the girls tea

I agree. Sally's turned into a fine comedy character. I think the Websters are an essential element to the show at the moment. It's nice to see the family dynamic.

Sally - snobby pushy mother - as someone else said tho' they were praising her. Thinks she's better than the rest in the factory, but they weren't part time prostitutes, then she looked down her sharp nose at her father-in-law for having a fling with Audrey. Has poor Kevin completely under the thumb and goes off the deep end if she doesn't get her own way.

Claire - wet, boring, a bit thick. Has no friends to speak of so is delighted when Tracy and this other one that she's 'conselling' pretend to be her confidantes. It makes her feel important but she hasn't the common sense to see that they are using her. Tries to be too nicey-nicey.

I'm sure there's more, but that'll do for now.

P.S. I don't mind the BATTERSBYS. I think they're quite comical.

but thats realistic-
not everyone on every street in the country is loud, lively and friends with everybody.

Im a big fan of Claires. She is a good character and the actress plays her so well-she has had some good storylines and her 'niave' yet friendly nature makes her appealing to people-
she also does have friends-she works very well with Eileen and Steve in Streetcars scenes.

Sally im not the biggest fan but by no means is so a candidate for axing-the websters are one of the more normal families here-the websters without sally or without a sally affair are nothing! BTW i think the way she acts on underworld is great-theres always someone who thinks shes better than everyone else and that they only work in this place because its handy-not necessary! Sally also showed her vulnerable side in the scenes with Rosie last year on the Moors.

The Battersbys Comical? Serious? They stopped being comical several years ago! Im a big janice/leanne fan but Les and Cilla are more than welcome to clear off whenever they want....

Oh and I do agree that Sean can leave to asap....

I don't HATE them! Did I say that? They're not real, so how could I hate them? I just intensely dislike watching the characters because of the things they do and the way they are made to be.

People can't hate the BATTERSBYS either
