I don't think of him as Sinbad. I've forgotten Sinbad. I think of him as Ken. I keep looking for Lizzie!

Agreed. The 70's was awash with wonderful comedy mixed in with the drama. There was comedy in the 60's but it was intended to be grittier from the start, which it was. Humourous but gritty!

I've often said the 70's is my fave Corrie era cos of the writing and the characters. I love having a wallow in the episodes now and then!

The Royal started in 2000. He was there from the start. Technically he's been in 7 years cos he's still there! The series they filmed last summer is on soon, so Ken will obviously be leaving then.
How funny that'll be to see him as Jerry on Corrie and Ken on The Royal on Sunday nights!

I KNEW him as Sinbad but it must be 15 years since I last watched Brookside so he's just a distant memory as that character to me.

Janice & Leanne had most of the best stuff in the second episode. Janice had got rather unsympathetic & over the top before she was originally axed but Vicky Entwistle didn't over-egg the pudding tonight in her scenes with Jane Danson. Well done to both actresses.

Not surprised that Reet has asked Doreen to move in with her, although I think that this will end up being a replay of the situation we had last year when Reet moved in with Emily & Emily got wound up by everything that Reet did. This time round I suspect Reet will be the one getting wound up by Doreen. I see she didn't miss a chance to try & get some voddy out of her new flatmate. She should just come out & admit she's an alcoholic!!!

Steve, Dev & Paul were funny on the golf course. Totally obvious that they're both going to be fleeced by Paul. Nobody could be that bad just because of a set of new golf clubs.

The Mortons still aren't engaging my interest very much & as for Kayleigh accusing Chesney of being a stalker...well, she's obviously got tickets on herself.

7 out of 10.

The moment Paul hit his first ball and Dev and Steve giggled at it, it was obvious what was going on.

I can't stand those Mortons, it brings back bad memories of Brookside.

I found myself liking Janice when I never thought that was possible. Imust have blinked when she explained why she was back, though - what became of Roger the plumber and the French love-nest?

Here they prove that the Battersbys are good when it's the original cast members and not Cilla, Chesney etc.

Haven't we had enough of couples getting divorced, back together, divorced, back together etc etc ad infinitum - Ken/Deirdre, Sally/Kevin - it's boring - Janice and Les are separated , leave them that way !

Two decent episodes tonight. For me, the best scenes were in the second episode, with Janice and Leanne. Vicky Entwistle especially was very good and it's nice to see that side to Janice again, which was lost for so long just before she left. She'd become very annoying with virtually no redeeming qualities, and so this was a step in the right direction and showed that she truly does think of Leanne like a daughter.

The golf thing is clearly going to be part of a bigger storyline (presumably with Paul winning lots of money from Steve and Dev) but for me, there were still too many scenes on the golf course that felt a bit pointless. Whilst Steve is an interesting character and very comical, Dev is unfortunately just a pain to watch.

Already, I detest the Mortons. I didn't like Jodie and Grandad when they were in it before, and with the arrival of the whole family things just seem to have got even worse. I hate to say it, but I agree with Gail on this one!

Let's not. Let's just stick with Leanne and Janice.

Let's save Jerry's life. We must buy his products or he will be forced to eat any he has left over.

I knew somebody with better knowledge of Corrie history would be able to put it on a better way than me

I knew that Corrie was not "built on comedy" though

Also, by 'pubs', I assume SINBAD meant the Rovers and the Weathy Arms, since there are no other pubs north of Watford. Well, except the Woolpack, of course.
You forgot about the Malt Shovel - also in Emmerdale but never actually seen (except i one episode years ago). It used to be run by Ernie Shuttleworth and was Seth Armstrong's bolt hole.

Janice was so good tonight, excellent acting...

Deidre's eyes have really been opened, she can see at last what a dreadful person her daughter is.

I like the Mortons, Gerry is very good, I haven't seen him in anything before, I never watched brookie, so have no preconceived ideas about the character.

The best bit for me was Dev and Steve playing golf, acting like a couple of kids..... I think they may both regret that

One of the best episodes for quite a while.

I love that haircut, and I want it and I want it NOW!

I think Janice would be more suited to get together with Sinbad/Jerry than Les again. After all, he's got his own thriving little business, a nice (well, so far) family, widower, just right. And he was giving her the eye

I really liked these episodes. Whenever Corrie films in a new location (our first look inside the Mortons' fast food place, the game on the golf course), the change of scenery is novel and makes the episode that much more enjoyable for me.

The scenes with Paul, Dev and Steve on the golf course were refreshingly different. They were action-oriented instead of dialogue-driven, and that added to the humour. Haven't seen a good action-driven bit in a while.
