You don't need to, O2 give the same deal to existing customers as to new. Have you not seen the massive advertising campaign?

You have to fight to get the same deals though.

I had to argue with customer services to give me the same deal as the carphone warehouse. The were offering the 1/2 price line rental on the W880i for the first 12 months on a 18 month contract. They told me that was for new customers only so quoted the they suppose to match offers as they say in they do in the adverts and finally after few minute's on hold I got the same deal.

Best thing to do before ringing is see what else available on the same network from the other online and high street stores. Also check out other network offers too. Make sure can confirm the offer as the may check. They did for mine the asked where I had see it and the advisor went online while I was on the phone.

Why not just get a brand new phone when you fall out of contract, then carry your phone number across onto the new SIM card. So all the best deals without missing out on any calls or having to give everyone your new number.

That way you can have your cake and Eat it!

I was told the "same deals" offer was for offers by O2 direct, not other retailers like CFW and Mobileshop. I did get a £100 credit instead of a new handset and £5 per month off my price plan though. I could have done better with the Mobileshop cashback deal, but with O2 I got my cashback now rather than instalments over the next 2 years.

Was offered a PAYG sim with my number so i can port it across to new contract but like the other poster said i can do better with Mobile shop etc its just id rather have low line rental instead of having to claim cashback.( have claimed cashback from e2save and mobile shop before ,, no problems encountered ). just come across http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...=74041&page=95 this thread looks like some good deals being had by pople from o2... heres to another phone call
Thanks for the replies so far

The reason for this, is that CPW O2 is a different service provider to O2 themselves. It is still O2, but Carphone Warehouse do the billing. If you were billed by CPW O2, you would have been offered exactly the same deal as a new customer would...

I used to work for o2 in Manchester, here the deal: ur due for an upgrade follow S-max idea in foning them up and saying 'T-Mobile' are offering this deal, what can u do to beat that offer.

What we look at on screen,is you profile see how much u spend each moth and how many mins and text u use up. then accordingthing we offer you. Also it depend if u have caught them on a gud day or a bad.
GUD Day means that u get more of a discount and
BAD Day means that u get not much of i discount.

it depend on their of these

and Q's ill try and answer them

PS to get thru to retention u just tell the advisor i want to change network
