I mean I don't like him being in Corrie. Not that I ever watched Brookside but I can't think of him as anything other than Sinbad.
Me!

lol this seems to be a problem for a lot of people but its been so many years since brookside! Weve had him in The Royal for what 5/6 years now?!

And you didnt even watch brookside!
If this is how it stays with "Jerry" i dont think his character will work! People need to judge him as Jerry....

Didn`t think I would like him, but he is a good actor, so his family has a lot to live up to.
Think he is the neighbour from hell, I can`t bear people who are in your face from the minute they arrive in the neighbourhood.
Everyone is suggesting romance between him and Gail, I can only look at that stomach and think "how the hell?"

I enjoyed Sinbad in Brookside, and the couple of times I saw him in The Royal, I still saw him as Sinbad, perhaps I should have watched more. I was prepared to see him as Sinbad again, as this Jerry character, and was suprised to admit to hubby after the 2nd show that yes, I think he'll fit in. I don't know about the whole family though. Time will tell.
I don't like the thought of him and Gail getting it on, Janice is much more his type, rough and ready, not afraid to bend the truth a little, or a lot

Yes..he'll do for me cocker, so far

I'm sure that after being on Corrie as "Jerry Morton" for a while, with a few good storylines we will all get used to him in his new role.

Perhaps we should all predict who he or his wife will have an affair with in the next 18 months. I say this because 'that' seems to be the only storyline soaps writers can think off.

Do you think people said that a few years ago about Sue Johnson (Sheila) or Ricky Tomlinson (Bobby) or Amanda Whatseface whose name escapes me (Heather) or any of the other actors, too numerous to mention, who have moved on from a soap - some have been more successful than others but surely any actor worth his or her salt should be able to convince when playing different characters.

I thought the older female was his daughter.

So you didn't watch Brookside therefore you won't really know the character of Sinbad yet you say he'll always be Sinbad to you and, as a result, instantly dislike Jerry Morton because of his typecasting.

No I never saw a single episode of Brookside but I know who 'Sinbad' is/was the same as most people who never watch Corrie would know who 'Ken' is.

Errrmmmm can you quote me please on where I said that I instantly dislike Jerry Morton because of his typecasting!!!

I predict his possible love interest will be either Janice or Eileen. Don't see it being Gail somehow - unless they introduce his guide dog to the show

I thought his eldest Daughter was his Wife! She looks far too old to play that part.

My hubby thought so too!

(How many bedrooms do they have in those houses...?)

PIDGAS-i think Pat Butcher must have recommended the estate agent to Jerry. This estate agent sells tardis'.

three I think... I think Jerry offered to share the big bedroom with the lad, but he said he'll sleep on the sofa. The two younger girls bunk up together and the older daughter the other bedroom. Grandad has somewhere else to live.

You say you don't like him being in Corrie as he's always going to be Sinbad. YOU DON'T KNOW SINBAD so you shouldn't dislike the actor being in Corrie for that reason. Get to know him as Jerry and you'll forgot Sinbad ever existed.

I've never watched brookside, so i am open to the idea of the new character jerry. He seems like a character with plenty of mileage in him, storywise.

Jodi getting together with Patrick or Dev would be interesting. She would give Kelly or Amber a run for their money!!

There you go again with your misquotes!

In your first post you said I instantly disliked Jerry! I never mentioned Jerry - I mentioned Sinbad. I'm quite prepared to give Jerry a chance but would have preferred another actor not one who is well known from another soap.

I love him as Jerry already and can see him having a fair few female admirers has he comes across as a bit of a charmer!

Well I like him irrespective of whether he was Sinbad or not.

Must admit I agree, no matter what he is in he will always be Sinbad to me. Maybe given time that may change.

I must admit to also being confused as to what point the OP is making

So are you saying that you don't think any actors should go from one soap to another?? or just those that are 'well known'?
And when does a soap actor reach the 'well known' point?
