So are you saying that you don't think any actors should go from one soap to another?? or just those that are 'well known'?
And when does a soap actor reach the 'well known' point? ”

Well most other FMs seem to have grasped my point! And I think you have too judging by your 'follow-up questions'!

I think my original post was clear. Let's hope it doesn't become a trend or we'll have Ken turning up in Eastenders and Phil Mitchell in Emmerdale.

It's too early to judge but he does have loads of potential to be really annoying

Bonze and I appear to be on the same wavelength here.

Yes, Michael Starke will always be Sinbad in my eyes as I watched Brookside when Sinbad was a permanent character, however you claim that you never watched Brookie so Michael Starke will be Jerry Morton in your eyes.

Anne Haddy (Helen Daniels in Neighbours) was also famous for being in Sons & Daughters before Neighbours came along but established herself well enough to be two separate characters in two separate soaps. So anything is possible.

Jerry is very much Jerry with me, not Sinbad.

I love him, definitely one of the best characters to arrive in the past few years.

I think I do get your 'point', but was confused by your original posting.

I take it you don't watch any other soaps or ongoing dramas if you can't cope with actors swapping roles, The Bill for example.
It's been happening for years and will probably continue for many more....

I thought Jodie was his wife too! When he was making the sleeping arrangements I enquired of my daughter why he couldnt go in with his wife. She's obviously paying more attention than me.
Apologies to the actress, but she does have a very hard face. I wonder if we're going to be subjected to lots of strops and screaming matches in the street and she will be described as one of those "strong" northern women.

As TV Guide said, you and s/he seem to be on the same wavelength. You are both good at misquoting. Where did I say I 'couldn't cope'?

Well I never watched Brookside and I don't have a clue who Sinbad was so its not a problem for everyone - I only know Michael Starke from the Royal.

I think Jerry Morton has great potential and I shall enjoy watching his character develop. So far I find him reminiscent of Eddie Yeats!

I do like the character of Jerry from what Ive seen so far, but I agree for those of us who used to watch Brookie it will be quite hard to get passed thinking of him as Sinbad.

I wish one of the soaps would give the actor who used to play Jimmy Corkhill a part. He is the best soap character of all time IMO.

I've seen some daft threads! Never watched Brookie but thinks of him only as a character IN Brookie!

I watched Brookie on and off but I've forgotten what Sinbad was like. Mickey joined The Royal when it started 7 years ago, so I think of him as Ken. He was a family man, Sinbad wasn't. I keep - jokingly - expecting to see Ken's daughter Lizzie appear but it certainly doesn't put me off watching him.

Bottom line is Mickey is an actor and now he's playing Jerry Morton. Simple as that!

So long as he doesn't start doing a window round, I'm happy to see him as Jerry and not Sinbad.
