Good Morning America ran a story this morning about Simon 'going' balistic last night following the result...AI isn't commenting.

Like I have said, I had Stephanie in the bottom 3, but please she lost out on a spot in the Top 10 and going on the tour at the expense of Sanjaya? You really think she deserved that?

You know what is weird, I can see the crowds booing him this summer. It happened with Scott...

I'm still fuming over the result...<goes looking for valium>

Sanjaya is serving his purpose - generating more and more publicity and controversy for AI. Simon isn`t really going ballistic - he`s smirking all the way to the bank.

An AI veteran like you, falling for the hype. Shame on you Miss Steph!

I know...you can't buy this kind of publicity...I'm still kinda shocked...It hasn't passed yet...(to my surprise!)

...and I really liked Sanjaya at the beginning also!!

I can`t understand why you are so shocked. Every year there is a Sanjaya who serves his purpose. I`m still shuddering at the thought of John Stevens ("Crocodile Rock".........arghhh!).....this year is no different. In fact AI is quite a predicatable sort of show.

In another couple of weeks there will be a really major shock (maybe Lakisha will be booted) and the show will sail on into the sunset, dancing happily with all its sponsors.

Yep, big news for the show and I bet Simon's loving every damn free-publicity second.

I'll have to take issue on that one, because the unofficial leaked voting figures if you believe that sort of thing (and if that's not being micromanaged as well) places Sanjaya in...

Spoiler
third or fourth place, with Stephanie right at the bottom.

The tweens/teens and grown-ups are power-voting for this guy, but Stephanie just didn't get noticed. He has a fanbase, and I believe Simon's going to make the most of it. Stephanie was sharing a diva vote so she was bound to lose out. Plus they're going to make more on the tour because of each weeny Sanjaya fan plus accompanying adult.

Well, he's been slagged off in front of 30 million people and come back for more. I think he'll manage. He may not even hear the boos over the screaming kiddies anyway.

He sounds good on last week's mp3. I've got it on repeat on my Zen tingum.

KBBJ...brilliant!! Can I switch the G&T for a nice relaxing Malibu? lol

Geraniums, I know it happens every season, but I really did think Stephanie would be on the tour. I feel bad for her. I don't even know why I am taking this so personally! ...reaches for an afternoon drink...

Stephanie definately wasn't the worst but the result was expected to tell you the truth. She didn't stand out enough and her recent song choices and performances weren't very good albeit not the worst.

I really think, it's more to the fact that I missed the show!! I ordinarily form my own opinion while watching!...which I then put on here! Despite seeing it <not live>, I really am bugged!

I promise to let it go!! Not like AI are going to change the results for my benefit! lol

Nighthawk...agreed

The evening she dropped to her knees was her one great show. She explained (probably to Cat Deeley) that she realised going first she might be forgotten by the end and so really worked out her performance to make it memorable. I was impressed with the way she explained it, but was then really struck in the following weeks how she didn't seem to follow her own advice. I did like her but suddenly (for me) Melinda came out of nowhere, nailing my own favourite classic songs and some of the others noticeably improved and Stephanie, sadly, fell to her knees again, this time metaphorically, and I forgot about her.

Same guest coach:
Spoiler
Gwen Stefani

Do I need to put spoilers over this info? I wasn't sure...

If you are serious about being embarrassed, please, Please, PLEASE don't be. I was blown away how nice and helpful both Peter Noone and Lulu were to the contestants. Lulu again blew me away with her singing and Peter Noone brought back such wonderfuls memories with his song I had tears in my eyes. I would love to know people like them....they are so talented and yet so humble, beautiful on the inside and out. Please don't feel ashamed because for me they represented the UK very, very well.......

I shall judge later how she was this week, but thought Stephanie was weak last week.

Surprised Sanjaya stayed too

As everyone has said, Steph was being compared esp. to Lakisha and Melinda, and they ARE better.

Whereas Gina, Haley and Sanjaya have something different...

Totally agree -- it was always going to hurt her being compared to Lakisha & Melinda, who had gotten screentime and fanbases installed by the time the live shows started.

Gina would be screwed if she had a better rock chick to be compared to, not to mention TWO stronger performers with the same vibe.

Haley is distinctive because she's NOT rock, nor is she attempting to compete with the bigger voices, so she's out on her own in terms of direct comparisons, regardless of whether you like her vocal style or not. ( and I do

Sanjaya is just an oddity (though I didn't mind his performance this week, maybe it was the crying girl that helped )

Nope. Rumours are that she is due on in the Semis on the Clive Davis week.

It was Stephanie's fault entirely. She was dire.

I blame it on Mariah Carey and her wobbly vocals.
