EPG Wont Download Overnight ?, Just Now And Next Menu's
SJC

I have two DHD4000's one has the original 40GB hard dive in, the other I modified about 2 years ago with a maxtor 6y120lo ( 120GB ) drive.

Both these units worked fine.

However three days ago I decided to upgrade both boxes to the Samsung 1654N 160GB drives. Basically to upgrade the standard 40GB and also the 120GB maxtor had got very noisy

One of the boxes going from 40GB to 130GB ish. This box works fine all ok since upgrade.

The other box going from 120GB maxtor to 130GB ish samsung has a problem:

No EPG download overnight ??

All other functions in this box work fine, record, playback etc.
I am only getting now and next menus.

Both the last two nights, in the morning the box appears to have locked up, LED stuck on RED NOT ORANGE. Power reset reboots box.

However no EPG. Box works fine all day recording/playback no problems or lockups.

Help !!

Does anyone have any ideas why I am having problems with this second box ??

Is there any thing that I have overlooked ??, any thing in the eng menu ????

Any advise would be appreciated.....thanks

Each night when the EPG is being downloaded a log file is produced. Assuming you have Log File Writing set to Enabled in the engineers menu, then have a look to see if it is logging any problems whilst trying to download the EPG.

I seem to remember that the default setting is set to Disable. If that is the case change it to Enable and have a look at the log file tomorrow.

Cheers

I assume the jumpers on the drives were set the same?

Try swapping over the drives and see if the problem follows the drive or stays with the box.

I think I remember something about 'delete old epg' being necessary to cure something or other, but can't remember what . But under the circumstances no harm trying I'd have thought.
