I work in mobile shop and someone came in today with a vodafone prepay with £0.00 credit and it said he was £2.40 away from getting free weekend calls.

He would not show me but infront of me he did something then showed me his balance again and his balance was down to £2.20.

He claims to have been getting free weekends this way for two weeks now, by clearing down his credit.

Any ideas what he is doing

If you spend £5 of credit during the week, you get free calls & texts and weekends.

And someone who works in a mobile shop didn't know this, hopefully not a Vodafone shop!
Unless the OP means someone can get free weekends without spending any credit. To be honest the post is confusingly written.

Correct he is clearing down his qualification balance by doing something, what I don't know any ideas...

The vodafone free weekend is changing from April1st. From then the weekend will begin midnight on the fri/sat, and you will limited to 60 mins of cross network calls for the whole weekend(calls to other networks). The unlimited part will be to voda only. Texts will continue to be to any standard uk network number

Sounds fishy to me anyway. I think the OP is trying to get someone to reveal the trick so they can do it themselves.

you don't have to have any credit on the phone at all. You simply need to have spent £5 worth of credit between Monday and Friday

He's probably texting something that costs 10p on top of his network charges. So his balance is now - 10p the same as when someone subscribes to a ringtone thing. When he adds credit to it this will be deducted and he'll pay for it eventually
