Basically what I'm asking is....

If I run 2 recorders next to each other of the same type but with different brand names will the remote from one operate the other. (I don't want it to !!)

I have a Goodmans PVR, excellent device and rather than go the firmware upgrade way, I thought about for the price just buying another recorder, just a different branding..

I guess that they will use the same Ir codes but can any one advise....

Thanks..Phil

If your Goodmans is the Digihome clone, then I think that the remotes are the same.

I've got a Digihome PVR and a Matsui TUTV1 STB on the same TV, and their remotes are completely different, they only operate their relevant gadget. The Matsui's remote, by the way, is identical to that of a Daewoo STB here (yes, lots of gadgets in this place ).

I'm pretty sure that the Goodmans, Digihome, Dual and Sharp DVRs all use the same remote codes.

I know that the Daewoo DSD9502 uses different codes as I have one of these and a Digihome at home.

The Daewoo is the better machine (as long as you use the digital audio connection), but I prefer the look of the menus on the Digihome

i have 3 goodmans freeview boxes and any remote will work them, i have alba, dighome, and a duel, and i can pick up any remote control, walk in any of the rooms, the boxes are in, and us the remote in my hand. like the tutva and the tutv old box, the remotes will work each box (with both being thompson).

It looks like my idea of having two Goodmans/Dighome PVRs next to each other is not going to work.

Barring covering up the Ir receiver on one when I want to use/set the other I'll not be able to do it..

I use to have a JVC remote that allowed you to change the codes on one other JVC piece of kit to allow them to be used together, pity that the technology of today won't allow that...

Cheers folks...

Don't give up - it's doable, if not ideal. It depends how much you'll miss the standby button on the remote. If you turn the box on manually via the button on the box, things work just fine - when you have one box on and the other off, then the standby button on the remote switches machines. Obviously, having both boxes on (out of standby) at the same is not going to be a good idea.

I have such a setup here, and indeed the main annoyance is having to switch the box on/off via the button on the front panel. Maybe I'll find a sweet spot on the wall where I can aim the remote and it'll just hit one of the boxes

I have a alba stb and a duel/pvr in the bedroom, and last night, wanted to use both, as i was editing from pvr, so had o lay the remote control accross the front of the stb, so as not to interfer.
