Anyone want to speculate what will happen if a dr who xmass 2007 special is planned, and will it lead on to the basis for season 4

If Jon Simms is being lined up to play the master, as series finally, then it would make sense that the Xmass 2007 episode would involve the master and possibly some monster from the doctors past, and following on this would season 4 have something to do with the master, cropping up now anf then to cause problems for the doctor.

I think that Lenny Henry will guest star as his temporary sidekick, wear a red nose the entire episode, and be a Chef that's thrust into the midst of a battle between Dr Who and the Tetraheydrons.

The show will end with Chef serving Dr Who his dinner while admonishing his staff for their poor work rates.

The 4th series has been confirmed but nothing about a Christmas episode. We assume it will happen of course but I remember when thay confirmed series 2 and 3 the Christmas episodes were also confirmed at the same time. Do we have any more information on this?

if there is a Christmas special this year the emphasis should be less on telling a Christmassy story as we've had two of those already and try something different for a change.

I agree and no more Robot Santas please.
They can get away with something different to the series though. More movie styled. How about the Doctor going back to visit during Christmas and finding history altered. T-Rex and co weren't wiped out and humans didn't evolve. I saw the Horizon the other night thinking this is pure sci-fi whats it doing in a programme like this. Maybe a big Christmas special for Who??? Just a thought.

I dont think that will ever happen, as Russel T. Davis said that he never wants the christmas sory, with the doctor buggering pff to Bulgaria, in the middle of summer.

He wants all the xmas episodes always set in Christmas time.

I love Christmas as much as the next person but something doesn't have to be set at a particular time just to tick the boxes.

and who said it had to be set during the middle of summer too. Although I feel for the poor actors who have to wear thick coats and gloves because it is filmed in the middle of the summer.

But for many, at Christmas, it certainly helps.

as we've had two Christmas based stories so just thought it might be a nice departure from the formula if they did something different..especially if it is a continuation of the cliffhanger set up in episode 13 and I don't mean who is going to be the next guest star they've lined up as a special surprise. they pulled that off..just..last year and it would be lame to try and do that again.

there have been plenty of other drama's that get Christmas specials that don't feel the need to set it during the festive season.

I was pretty sad we didn't get a Life On Mars Christmas Special. Could just imagine Gene Hunt saying 'I dont bloody like Christmas so call me Scrooge if you want, I'm off to pub for a pint of Bah humbug'.

Likewise, plenty that have, and work because they are done properly and thoughtfully, where the Chrtistmas setting is the backdrop rather than the centrepiece.

Yes, and in a way I am half-agreeing, but there's another part of me that yearns for the "traditional " Christmas, where every programme has a Christmas flavour, or maybe a ghost story (always a good thing at Christmas).

So, maybe DW with a ghost-story flavour?

I agree. This does not mean we can't have a Christmas story again but let's try something different. Wasn't 'The Unquiet Dead' set at Christmas too. That would mean 3 stories set during this period.

How about a story set on an ice planet where it is snowing all the time. No mention of Christmas but a winter story. Should keep everyone happy Oh and a good story to go with it of course.

i thinkbe the chhristmas special's are always going to be set at chritsmas...
rtd has said he thinks theys should be, and to be fair, if its going to be on christmas day, i think it should be,
i thinlk next year they need to set it in a different era,
i think a victiorain christmas story would be nice,

also i'm a bit dissapointed that Utopia in season 3 isnt set on an alien planet as speculated...

Or maybe Sam's coma makes him hallucinate GH as Father xmas. Standing outside a house on the sleigh shouting "C'mon out for your present young lad, your surrounded by Reindeer B@stards"

Adric wiped out the T-Rex and Co. in Earthshock, so it would be interesting to see a twist on that story where he survived, didn't wipe out T-Rex and Co and lived.
how's that for a Christmas present, the Return of Adric

Well, Davies told SFX that he'd almost finished writing the 07 Christmas special when they interviewed him. Now, it's possible the BBC ultimately didn't commission one, but it looks like Davies would be as surprised as anyone if that was the case.

I'm pretty sure it is. Davies went on record in DW that, of 42 and Utopia, one was set 'at the distant edge of a solar system' and the other on an alien planet (whose name I forget how to spell). From what we know of the two eps, Utopia seems the most likely to be planetset.
