I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to Mobile deals. It's probably an age thing (62). I have virgin media TV and they are offering me a deal for £10 a month. 300 calls and 300 texts (I cannot ever see me needing so many texts).

1/ Is this a good deal?

2/ Are there any catches?

3/ After the initial 12 moth period will the same rates still apply?

At present I have a deal with T Mobile for £12.50 I get 150 calls and 150 texts.

Any advice will be very welcome.

Hello Fixerman! In my Opinion;

1) It's a pretty good deal. They're Cross Network Anytime Minutes and while you don't get a phone with it (I think they used to throw a pretty basic 'Lobster' phone into the deal - you could always ask) but you should be able to stick the Virgin SIM straight into your T-Mobile handset. Should.

2) I don't think there any real catches to speak of.

3) There is no indication that the tariff'll change after the contract period is up.

Go for it!

It's T-mobile so the coverage is Sh**e, but apart from that it's ok.

No Lobster! I have a pretty good phone that I like so that's OK. I got the sim the next day and it is simplicity itself to set up. Just insert the sim and away you go. So good that I called up and got a second sim for the wifey. Also the minutes roll over for one month and it is dead easy to check your account online. I am very pleased.

No worse than Vodafone! I've found T-mobile to give reasonable coverage.

When I called up to order the second sim they had to check to see if I was "eligible" for a second sim. I don't know what that is all about but it was not a problem. As far as I know there is a limit of two per account.

Seems so! It remains to be seen. If it continues as is then it is a fantastic deal. I have not seen anything approaching it anywhere. However the mobile phone companies can change the famous "terms and conditions" when ever they see fit. So far so good!

The only catch is that if you cancel your Virgin Media services such as TV, Phone or Internet then the price reverts to £20 per month so as long as you keep them your eligible

I got the same deal for £15p.m. We've not got cable it was just a launch deal when the sim only contracts first came out. They also threw in 12 months free 8MB BB aswell!

Cracking deal as the full price is now £20! At the time I chose 200mins/500texts as it suited me better back then but would now prefer 300/300 instead but can't change tariff or I will lose the discount and have to pay £20p.m.

Can't complain though and I'm now looking at getting dual sim for cheaper minutes when my 200 run out.

Couldn't agree more. Great deals if you have a base station in your back garden! Texts not being sent for hours on end as voice calls have priority. Fantastic.

The cable deal is two per household providing you pass the credit check good enough to let you have two numbers.
