K750i: Black vs Silver
DXRulz
26-03-2007
I've been wondering...

Is the silver one rare as i've only ever seen owners of the black one. Its really popular, seen loads of people in loads of different places such as buses, the town centre, work and various other places. I've never seen anyone with the silver one. I know its the vodafone exclusive model and i have one myself but noone else seems to. Is it that its rare because there aren't many of them around or what?

Probably because people don't want them on Vodafone. They limit the MP3 settings for ringtones and stuff.

I got mine in Red on T-Mobile

It hasn't been out as long as the Black if I'm correct. Also has the rubbish Vodaphone software, but that's another thing.

Mine's not limited. MP3's downloaded from the net and sent via bluetooth or usb cable or sent via bluetooth from other phones work as alarm, ring and message alerts

Exactly the same as mine.

Vodafone only restricted the K700i. Not any others.

Guess they learnt from that mistake

I had a F500i once (Vodafone only model, was never released on any other network) and that was "MP3 locked"...

Really? So why did my mate have to have his K750i debranded because he was not able to use MP3s as ringtones? He also has horrible Vodafone icons blasted all over the main menu.

The lift on the MP3 restrictions is only with newer firmware. Early versions still restricted MP3 usage.

Mine has firmware version R1CA021 (Released on SEUS for the K750 on 22/05/06)

Littlewoods catalogue sells the o2 (locked) one for £89. I have it. It's an excellent phone.

Yeah, but the K800i costs £100 + more than the K750i.

Yup. That's the best firmware version according to most people, so don't update it. The very latest is R1DB001 and the music quality has been reduced.

I got my Vodafone branded K750i in August 05 and it never had any restrictions on MP3?

I've done it on mine, it's easy.

Under the battery cover is 2 screws below the camera cover, unscrew these and the back cover pops off. Below this is 4 screws, undo these and the front can then be clipped off.

Pop a new one on and screw it back into place.

Cool, Thanks. Would a real replacement case be hard to get?

Well, actually, I've just seen the "Genuine" in the title. Might buy it actually. That+ A walkman FW would breathe some life into this year old phone.
