What is everyone's opinion on the new family in Corrie?

I know it's early days for them, but I just haven't warmed to them at all. I just don't feel that the fit into Corrie somehow.

I remember when the Harris' arrived, they were called the Nelson's and there was a bit of intrigue as they were on that witness protection programme. I think they then settled in really well, but we all know what happened there...

But this new family, I'm just not sure of. I think they would suit EastEnders better.

I was thinking exactly the same. Especially the boy...

I know it's a shame to say that, but they really aren't aesthetically pleasing.

I liked the look of them at first and thought they were going to be a huge plus for the show but now I can't bare to watch them. I think they don't add anything and are totally out of place.

Of course they could have picked some better looking kids. But I like the fact they're more real/normal looking. Perhaps they were picked for their acting skills.....you never know

As for the family as a whole, I really like Jerry and Jodie. I haven't really formed an opinion of all the kids yet.

Let's not forget how a lot of people on this board were less than complimentary about Kym Ryder when she first joined Corrie and now she plays one of the most popular characters

I don't think I want to warm to this lot. Michelle always had something nice about her anyway. This lot don't.

I can't see them lasting.

Keep Sinbad, ditch the kids, and get him involved with Gail.

It constantly amazes me how quick people are to judge on this board. We only saw Jerry for the first time 10 days ago. For goodness sake give them a chance. What is the matter with everyone.....grumble grumble, chunner chunner

If everyone was saying they loved the family and wanted the producers to, like, rename the show to Mortonation Street, would people still be complaining about our fast judgements?

I agree about the weird kids - the boy twin looks like the Crypt Keeper!

I think its far to ealry to give an honest answer at the moment, they seem ok, but we need to see them in a proper storyline

As for commenting on their looks, well for me I would prefer good acting/decent storylines, I know I am in the minority, but I dont watch soaps to perv over the characters

It's not about perving, unless we're talking about Dennis Rickman or Liam Connor or John Paul McQueen or something.

I've not really warmed to the family as a whole, Jerry & Jodie the most believable at the mo, I just hope they don't give them too big a storyline before the actors have settled into their characters. I thought ditching one of the twins was a good idea, but
Spoiler
. And the grandad? shove him in a home somewhere off the coast of Scotland please.

Same old story, new characters and the 'I haven't warmed to them' cry goes up. There hasn't been enough to to 'get to know' them yet!
Don't be so quick to judge.
Not everybody watched Brookeside so don't know 'Sinbad' - maybe this is colouring some peoples judgement?

I agree. I can't remember a family I've warmed to less - even the Battersbys when they first arrived.

I think I'll reserve judgement until they've had time to finish unpacking and settle in.

i always like to see new familys, you get so fed of the same old faces like ken, emily, doris etc.,so its nice to see some new ones, also it means less of flippin derdree and tracy which is good.

the only thing i d'ont like about them is the odd accent that sinbad is putting on.

Give the Morton's a chance!!! Let them settle in a bit before judging them too harshly.

I've said before I think Corrie handles new character introductions really well - its the one area where they beat EE hands down.

Eastenders always try to introduce new characters with a massive amount of screen time and a major storyline (eg. Ferreiras, Millers, Johnny, Tina & Ruby)
Corrie introduces its new people much more gradually, waits for the viewers to get used to having them there and start to care about them...... then give them the exposure and the good storylines (eg. Violet, Sean, even Karen McDonald when she first arrived did nothing much for months). That way, if a character doesn't work out and doesn't become as popular as anticipated, they can lose them quietly and no-one really notices. And the ones that are popular don't suffer from over exposure too early on (Slaters, Moons) so they have a much longer useful life on the soap - and the actors don't seem to get so big so quickly that they feel the need to move on.
