I found this really interesting as I help out in a coffee outlet that is run by a charity and operates from a mobile van in our locality. I was staggered at the lack of thought these people put into the costings etc. So what if they could make 1000 cups of coffee, they should have aimed for a figure of 600 cups sold and worked out everything around that. We often arrive at an outlet, look at the price of coffee and the locale and either sell for the same or a few pence dearer. We know that people will come to us if the coffee is good because we are all volunteers raising money for local charities. The funny thing is that markets are hopeless, by and large unless there is somewhere for people to sit, as if people have bags of shopping to carry (and perhaps children to look after) they won't buy coffee as they don't have enough hands to juggle everything.

I think it was a pretty good start to the show. For some reason,I took an instant dislike to Andy and was delighted to see him get the boot straight away.I'm sure that the first chance that Sir Alan gets,he will get rid of that weird guy who came up with the original name of the mens team.I was hoping that the woman leading the team was going to slap the mouthy bstrd.I quite liked her,but she may prove to be a bit too confrontational, even for the likes of Sir Alan.
It's too early to say who's favourite, but I think the ex Army guy looks like he would be well suited to being Sir Alan's lap dog (sorry, apprentice!) |

I haven't had time to read through the thread today so apologies if this has been said before!! Enjoyed last night but thought both teams were actually quite poor but it was the first event & they were still getting to know each other.
In terms of who went I thought that all three in boardroom didn't show anything of substance so any could have gone. Andy was never going to make it beyond the first few weeks on the show but I would actually have liked him to stay for one reason only. It seems that if you step up to the plate & take on the lead role particularly at beginning you are putting yourself at real risk. Was he really that much worse than the girl who ordered the milk? - I don't think so. MB |

I think Andy deserved it. Sophie I think has good potential and could go far.
I just loved Andy's reaction to everything. Top things about Andy! * He put his name forward for Team Manager but then wanted to jump out and let Adam do it (he was scared) * He calls everyone Babe and Sweetheart.. * He left his well paid job for a day's work LMAO! * He tried to blame all the others for his errors and mistakes. All round idiot

A very entertaining start. I can see I'm going to have a lot of fun screaming at the TV over the next few weeks. That so-called Quantumn Physicist really doesn't have clue, but I guess that's what you get when you stay in education rathet than get a real job!
Initial reaction of the contestants - what a bunch of amateurs. If they're the cream of the young British business crop, god help us! |

One of the highlight of yesterday's show for me was:
"I didn't realise milk froths" Sophie, quantum physicist. |

Did anyone else notice the look on Gerri's face after Andy had been fired and they were leaving the boardroom?

I had a bit of sympathy for Andy being 'elected' when he was the first one to make it clear he did not want to be PM. I knew then that he would probably go.
If Sir Alan hadn't switched the team leaders, I think the boys would still have won. And then Andy would have benefited. The boys voting for him would have been seen as an accolade, rather than as stitching-up.

The boys voting for him would have been seen as an accolade, rather than as stitching-up. They may have thought they could sacrifice him by putting him up as a team-leader. I felt a little sorry for Andy with all the yells, and cuddling and male-bonding. It looked like he was trying too hard and not really noticing what went on in front of his nose and behind his back. He really wanted to be friends with anyone and maybe thought he would be safe that way. Little bit like Alexa... Last edited by Socha : 29-03-2007 at 19:39. |

Wasn't surprised Andy went - I'm not sure if he was genuine or just pretendinig to be nice in the hope of chopping everyone's legs from underneath them while keeping a chummy veneer. Though if you pushed me for a decision I'd go with the latter. |

I think that Andy got "Successful Business Management for Dummies" for Christmas but left it in the glove compartment of one of the cars he sold the first week in January
